    Write something like.................

I'm afraid I cannot accept your offer of £1000 as full and final settlement of my claim. I will accept this as part payment, and without prejudice. I will continue my claim for the balance though.

Is it likely they'd pay the £1000 even though you're saying you want to pursue the rest or would they just say "See you in court then" ?

For the offers we turned down, there was no payment once we refused the offer. The only payment the bank made was a cheque for the full amount of the claim (including interest and court fee).

Some banks are depositing an amount in the account, then making this their offer. My advice on this situation is to write to the bank as above, and if possible don't touch the money the bank has put into the account.

  • Hi all.
I received a letter from Barclays yesterday (Saturday 23rd December 2006).
It says that they're sorry I had to contact them about the level of service I've received...they'll look into my concerns and let me have an answer or update as quickly as possible but no later than January 18th 2007.
They added "thanks for bringing this to our attention".
Looking forward to their next letter now.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

im in the same boat , finsihed paying off 6 months ago ( thank god) . Now im looking at claiming all the charges back that it accrued whilst over its authorised limit . I sent my first letter a week before xmas and recieved the usual response on the 22nd stating " they are now looking into my claim etc.. etc.. " .
keep a close eye on these boards there are loads of helpful topics and people in the same situation who are/have been through this process .
    Good luck !
  • Hiya,

I have been offered a pitiful amount from Barclays, so want to pursue the full amount. Can anyone that has had to claim through court tell me whether you actually have to go to the hearing, or whether they decide it without you being there?

    Thanks!
  • my husband and i both have accounts with barclays. my claim for 75 was paid in full within 10 days of initial request. my husbands was offred les than half of what he is owed therefore he decided to take them to small claims court. he used all the information and today he has won by default and will be sending in the bailiffs soon. the whole process for his cliam from initially requesting 6 years of statements has taken about 6 weeks. i must add that it has been very very easy. just follow the step by step guide from martin lewis site. good luck
