hi,
I have asked Barclays Bank for my charges back, they have sent me a reply saying, they will endevour to respond within the time scale in my letter, BUT they can not guarantee that they will do so.However they do calim to find a solution with in 4 weeks,a full report or an update on the progress is to be sent within 8 weeks. Is this a standard letter? Has anyone had the same letter? what should I do? do I just wait? can anyone advise me if this has happened to them. Hope so .0 -

Heres a question i don't think has been asked before. If Barclays make you an offer, and you decline or just carry on with the court process. If it then goes to court. Are they more likely (just possibly), to throw it out because the bank made you an offer, and you said no? Perhaps thinking that it was a generous offer, and you are going a bit far

No because you are more than entitled to claim all that is owed to youMember & fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation0 -
It is a standard letter that they are sending most people at the moment, and really it is up to you what to do next. Some advise to wait, and some advise to send the next letter threatening them with court. Have a read back through the thread is the best. I am also at the same point as you and chose to wait the 4 weeks for an answer. Like someone said before, they usually respond after 2 to 4 weeks. But in my case the 4 weeks are up, so on Monday unless i get an offer, i am sending the court letter with all the interest added this time. So let you know what happens next.
Had the same letter and waited the 4 weeks. just after the 4 weeks were up (by like 2 days) they sent me another letter sayiong 'sorry its taking us so long, we will contact u in 4 more weeks hopefully sooner. i sent the letter threatening court the day before though so wait and see! i cant afford court costs so just gonna hold out to see what offer they make, if any, and just except that. they have to reply in 8 weeks otherwise you can go to FO. i'd say just hold out. it does not harm in waitingClaiming back from Natwest: £595+intrest

They did exactly the same to me, told they would reply by 3rd July. I waited then on 5th got another letter sayin they need longer now wait until 30th July. Well Im going to wait, I waited already and i've got enough with Lloyds in court at the minute messing me about so I'll be patient with this one and see how far it gets me. Im claiming £625,

Only let them take 8 weeks if you are claiming via the Financial Ombudsman

Otherwise stick to your time scale and go via the court route
