  • Hi Triplex It seems that Barclays are paying out a couple of days before court! I tried to call them but couldn't get any response so went into my local branch - the customer advisor was nice but said she couldn't do anything to help - office dealing with complaints isn't taking any calls! My advice is stick it out, it's an emotional rollacoaster, keep reading the success stories, keep calling, go to your branch...............fingers crossed for you and everyone else in same situ.......

    help please !!

I originally asked for my statements back in February, and after being more than generous with the time scale I have given them ( they had to send my statements again as they claimed they had been sent, but I never received them, then they sent them 3 times !!) I managed to 'tot-up' what they have charged me and sent off my letter asking for my charges back.

I can't remember when this was, but it was some time begining of May (my records are at work and I'm off poorly at the moment)

I got a letter dated 4 June 2007 apologising for the delay but I would hear from them no later than the 29 June.

I got a letter this week dated 27 June saying:

I refer to our letter dated 4 June

I apologise for the delay in providing you with a full response to your complaint and thank you for your patience whilse we continue our investigation. Unfortunately we remain unable to respond fully to your concerns at present. However, we will contact you again as soon as possible, and certainly no later than 27 July. Please refer to our complaints leaflet, enclosed with our above-mentioned letter, which provides details of our timescales.

    Yours sincerely

    Helen Sanderson
    Customer Relations Advisor

I am getting really fed up now.. especially as I've told lots of colleagues about this and they have all been paid out, I even sorted my sons bank charges out, he's with Barclays aswell, and he received his ages ago.

I am going to phone Barclays tomorrow, but I'm not sure what to say, if they start palming me off with stuff I will probably just give in to them :o

I'm not asking for a huge amount (about £900) compared to some people, but I'm claiming against two accounts, would that make a difference? ( they have only mentioned one account on that letter)

Also I am into overdrafts on both accounts, one has a £600 OD and I'm up to that every month, the other has a £1200 OD and thats at limit or just under most of the time too.

The really annoying thing is I've already had another 3x £30 charges !!

Please can someone give me some advice as to what I should say?

    Many thanks

Why phone Barclays? Why not follow the timescale in Martin's letter? You only have to give them all that time if you intend to take your complaint to the FO, if not, then file that court claim NOW.

    Beate, thanks for that.

    Whats FO?

I'm worried about taking them to court because of my overdrafts, there is no way I could pay all that money off at the moment

The Financial Ombudsman = FO is good of course if you can't pay the court fees at all. Have a read of Martin's article, it talks about both court and FO process.

    Hi All

I've noticed that, since I started my claim against Barclays, they have been lodging credit agreement reports against me on my current account. Fortunately since I started my claim against them I have been extra careful with my money so it all looks good. :D

Are they waiting for me to trip up again? They have not lodged a report in the past 5 years that I've had the account. Coincidence? I think not! :p

You can ring the litigation dept on 0207 116 1943 but I doubt they will talk to you till you have a court date :( I should get my date soon too! Then you can be sure I'll be straight on the phone! :p

yesterday i started judgement by default on mcol against barclays bank, today i see it has been rejected. Does this mean they put in a last minute defence, and what happens now???
i'm claiming 1670.00 back they did offer me 770.00 but only recieved the offer after i had started judgement, wouldn't have accepted it anyway!

Maybe they had but I wouldnt worry about it, plenty people on here have been in the same boat & won just wait & see what info you get from the courts, maybe give them a ring to ask what happened, I know they are always happy to helkp :)
