Hi there!
I sent the letter totalling my charges and requesting them back asking them to reply within 14 days only to receive the standard delaying tactics letter saying <TABLE class=tborder id=post5453049 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD class=alt2 width=125>
</TD><TD class=alt1 id=td_post_5453049>"...May I take this opportunity to explain that whilst we will endeavour to respond to you within your timescale outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee that we will do so.
Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a solution within four weeks.
If we are not able to do so we will always write to you explaining what is happening, a full update on our progress will be sent to you within eight weeks..."
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I dont know if i should wait this timescale now or send them the letter threatening court?? Also i didnt add interest to my charges and am now starting to wish i had, can i still do this???
Im useless at this sort of stuff and am really nervous about any court routes etc.....any help really would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much for any info!!0 -

Go to the home page of this site and read through Martin's excellant advice. He tells you when to send letter, how long to give the bank to reply, and what to do if you take on the bank either through MCOL or by post, I did mine through the post as I can't pay for things online. Whatever you do - try not to jump ahead and not give them the chance to reply - you never know they may offer you all your claim. There is a process you have to follow.
CAG ConsumerActionGroup can also give good advice you'll find them @ www.consumeractiongroup.com REGISTRATION IS FREE!!0 -

first of all wait another two weeks, they probably won't need the whole four weeks. secondly, You can change the amount of claim in your next letter advising them that you are now adding the interest. Use either MSE Calculator (found on home page) or a
more detailed calculator on CAG site who can be found @ www.consumeractiongroup.com REGISTRATION IS FREE!!! Their calculator holds more detail and is probably better for the courts as it is a 'schedule of claim charges' which is what you will be asked when you get to the MCOL or post stage.
Good Luck & keep us posted.:money: :eek:0 -
Hi EveryoneI started my claim in February following Martin's Step by Step guide, I have received the same standard fob off letter as mentioned in posts I've read - it's my own fault it's gone on so long, I was allowing the banks to dictate the time scales........the courts are dictating the time scale now - I used my local county court, they are really helpful, I have to wait five days before they can tell me whether Barclays have filed a defence, they have until end of today...........does anyone know if Barclays are taking it all the way to court??Great site and good luck to everyone0

Just want to say thanks for all the advise given to me and eveyone else. But heres my latest question: I recently recieved the standard 4 to 8 weeks if your lucky letter from barclays and after reading the guide it is unclear whether to send letter 3 now or wait the 4 weeks (or until they contact me again). Unless they pay it in full i've decided to add the interest also. I know as well recent posts are in the same boat as me but each person gets different advise, i suppose because the amounts are different. Anyway my amount is £3255. Or £3755 w int.
Thanks-dodge.

Hi all you Bank Charge Claimers
I hate Barclays Bank.
Can anyone tell me whether offer of a goodwill gesture is seen as an admission of guilt?
Also - why would a District Judge dispense with the allocation questionnaire?
Go get 'em!
Thanks, big respect

Can anyone ease my Paranoia?
I have read a lot on this this site and posts from people have helped me a great deal as I looked on from the background.
Heres the story so far: Two Barclays accounts £3,100 in charges owing. With interest up to £4,300ish.
They have put up a fight. Had to fill in the questionairre thingy to move my claim from the Moneyclaim website one (in Northampton) to my local court.
Heard nothing...panicked! Rang the court, guy there saying I will get a hearing within the next 10 weeks, possibly August. It's on for 17th of August.
The guy at court said they way it's been happening there is that Barclays might contact me just a couple of days before the 17th, with an offer.
Do they normally contest it???
I don't wanna go to court! Oi dint du nafink Guvna!!!0
