  • After sending a copy of the first letter relating to claiming back my bank charges I am still aiting for my statements of my total chrges to arrive but in the mean time Barclays abnk have already written to me offering a good will gesture of £155. This is all very well but I still do not know how much has been accumulated over the last 6 years but I am sure it is much much more than what I have been offered! should I hold fire and wait for my statements to arrive or just accept the offer?

If anyone else has had the same thing happen I would appreciate any advice you could give me as to what you did.

    Cheers

You can always write and advise you will accept the amount as part settlement without prejudice and that you intend to reclaim the appropriate amount on receipt of your details. :)

    Hi

I have successfully got copies of my statement, gone through them and sent my request off to Barclays (asking for interest too).
They have written to me within the 14 days I gave them to respond... one day before 14 days was up!
However, they are now saying that it could take up to 8 weeks to even respond to me again let alone pay up.

    Any advice anyone please?

    Thank you

    Andy

My court date is 25/7/07, I sent my 'bundle' to Barclays to arrive on 3/7/07 and hand delivered it to the court the day before ('just in time' as usual!)

Can I expect Barclays to settle now?

I've tried ringing and e-mailing their litigation dept. but have not been able to speak to any one.

    Here's hoping!

daughter 2 offer made and accepted 98% 0f claim
mine offer made and refused 50% of claim
all taken different timescales I think Barclays just pick names out of the hat?

i recieved a settlement from barclays after the eight weeks was up, it was half of what i asked for, but i phoned and barclays said they only give one offer and if i didn't like it take it to the ombusdman. i decided to take the offer as i really needed the money and recieved the payment within 5 days. i have now paid off my overdraft and am going on a shopping spree. just hang on in there barclays will get in contact goodluck

I only noticed the other day whilst clearing out some old stuff, that I had in fact a few charges on my barclay card, should I be on another thread? I have typed up a letter to said c/c company and will post today, if I,ve forgotten about those charges there may be others. Should I post in the "signed for" manner? I dont expect there will be a lot, and this account is now closed, but hey this is my dosh, and I want it

The 8 weeks are in their complaint procedures. You only have to wait that long if you want to use the Financial Ombudsman. If you want to use the court route, send another letter giving them another 14 days, then file a court claim.

I telephoned Barcalys to order my statements (after sending a letterthat they deny any knowledge of) and i was wondering if i could do the same to request the charges back as i don't want them denying knowledge of my letter again . Has anyone done this?
