Hi there!
Im wondering if anyone can help me?? I have read through but cant seem to find anything that answers my question!
I sent the second letter to Barclays totalling my charges and requesting our money back and giving them 14 days to reply, it has been a week and they have replied saying:
"...May I take this opportunity to explain that whilst we will endeavour to respond to you within your timescale outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee that we will do so.
Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a solution within four weeks.
If we are not able to do so we will always write to you explaining what is happening, a full update on our progress will be sent to you within eight weeks..."
Im confused of what i should do next! What does this mean and what must i do next, i cant find a letter or any info from where i should go from here, please please if anyone could help it would be much appreciated!!
Thank you everyone in advance!;)

Hi Folks
I've just had an offer from Barclays for £800, claim is for £1165, (£1600 with interest). I'm at the stage where I was just about to file a court case when the offer letter came this morning.
Its a tempting offer but I thought I would ask if anyone had had any joy ringing the bank after recieving the offer letter asking them to up the offer?
Thanks V much0 -

Now might be a good time to use that interest and the court fees as bargaining chips.
Obviously, it all depends on your circumstances and the amount involved (both in real and percentage terms) but, personally, I regard any part offer or payment as an attempt to take some of the charges from you for a second time!

I did with Nat west and got nowhere " We are not allowed to negotiate over the phone" Makes legal sense that . However others on the site had done and succeeded
Always worth a try0 -

hope someone can help me!!! I recieved my statements from barclays today, but am confused on what i can reclaim...i have looked on the "what you can and cant reclaim help thread" but am still unsure. On my statements it shows alot of bonced cheques (i know i can reclaim these), but directly under each bounced cheque there is an interest fee. some are small (£1.80) and some are more (£16.88) are any of these reclaimable?
Also it may be worth mentioning that my account was over the agreed overdraft limit? Does this have any affect on it?
Thanks in advance.
hi as far as i know you can claim for returned chq fees returned direct debit/standing order fees and debit card charges, authorised and unauthorised overdraft charges paid referral fee ect

Hi
Just phoned Barclays and was told that the offer was a final offer and that they wouldn't up it. Thought I'd give it a go, now I'm off to sit in a dark room and decide to accept or fight on.0 -
my partner has just had a letter offering £830 when we tried claiming £1140 (£1219.15 with interest) and we are also unsure wether to accept or not but we do not know wher to go from here???0

Hi there, just needing a bit of advise really
Worked out my charges and altogether with the 8% interest i am owed £939.60.
I sent the first letter dated 2nd April, and got a response back straight away saying they had received my letter of complaint and that they would respond to me as soon as possiable, but as they were busy they could not gaurantee to meet my time scale of 14 days. So they advised they aimed to respond within 8 weeks. So i thought fair enough, and i waited.
I then received a letter on the 8th May advising that they did not think the charges were unlawful, and i should have read and understood my terms & conditions, blah blah blah! They then offer me a goodwill gesture of £615.00.
After serious consideration and discussions with my partner we decided to reject the offer, and i sent my second letter on the 10th May and i gave them 7 working days for a response, i heard nothing back so i send the same letter again dated 28th May again giving them 7 working days to respond. (i really wanted to avoid court action at this point)
Well i still go no response so on i went through moneyclaim to issue my claim. This cost me £80.00 so the claim is now for £1019.60.
The claim was issued on the 13th June, and it will be deemed to be served on the 18th June, Barclays will then have until the 2nd July to respond.
I am just wondering what is the best option from here, up to this point i have been so confident but now i am beginning to get slightly worried that i have just wasted £80!
Any advise would be greatfully received ... ... ...
Thanks0 -
Hi ive just got off the phone from a really lovely lady called Sarah on 0845 6090806 she was so nice and re-assured me that it will be sorted within nxt 2 weeks, i asked her how many ppl who are claiming have had to go as far as court and she said as far as she knows no one that things are always settled before it goes that far, who knows but she certainly made me feel a bit better
