    hi all

At the moment I'm dealing with loads of claims..sounds bad but not really im dealing with mine and my mums, She received a letter in reply to her letter asking for charges back and the list of charges saying 'we aim to find a solution within 4 weeks' ect ect..the 14 days we gave them is up today I spoke to a guy from barclays yesterday on my mums behalf and he said the FSA allow them either 20 or 40 days to respond, now ive read thru tons of posts and im pretty sure their only allowed that if we are taking this claim through the ombudsman am i right?? and that if we are taking it thru the small claims court they have to stick to my timetable??
i like to be 100% sure of my facts before i go to the next step.

    thanks for your time

    Hi All,

After about 3 months of internet/letter/court hopping i got a court date for the 18th of June. What should drop through my door but a letter for the litigation team. Nice girl called Kate offered me a decent sum (after a bit of confusion they offered £490.40 for a £1400 claim). My question is this. Do I ask for the full amount (charges + intrest) i could do with the money now you see as ive gone this far. Thanks!

    Craig

To be honest an offer of £490 for a claim of £1400 seems way to low if i was you i would stick it out for more, either ring them back or send a letter from the other posts ive read they usually offer more eventually
    good luck

  • Apologies to the admins for not finding the specific thread to place this in...but there are so many...and I just wanted to add a little help.

Anyone reclaiming from Barclays. Your first port of call should be customer relations (0800 0289303 or 0845 6090806). You need to log a 'complaint' about your bank charges, which should get the ball rolling. Make sure to make a note of your reference number. At the same time, also make a request for statements. The following should happen:

They'll process your claim for bank charges over about 6 weeks and make you an offer by post. If you want to know what the total of charges was (to compare to their offer) just phone them up and ask them! In the meantime, your statements should turn up within 40 days or so and you can check it yourself.

Obviously, don't accept any offers until you have a clear idea what you should be asking for.

    Hope this helps. :-)

Hi. I've just read the post about ring people from Barclays and claims being magically paid out. I have just rung with regard to the offer they made me and although I spoke to a l;ovely person he was unable to make me a higher off. Someone else has posted that if you ring 0207 1161943 and give your name and case number, they will pay out. I can't beleive this. Has this actually happened to anyone, and if I try ringing what reason should I give for speaking to them in the first place?
Barclays have put in a defence for my claim, but I have no court date yet.

I'd just like to apologise for my terrible spelling and typing errors made on my last post. It must be nerves!

I`m in exactly the same situation they have entered a defence but no court date as of yet... Is that number just for Barclays Bank customers or does it work for Barclaycard as well which is what I`m claiming for??
Also let me know if you ring it and what Barclays say if you decide to do that??

I don't know if it is for Barclaycard aswell - I read it earlier on in this thread.
I'm hoping to get some advice before I ring as I don't want to jeopardise my chances in any way. Also I'm a big girls blouse when it comes to speaking to legal people - I so hope it doesn't go to court!

I am currently in the court process with Barclays. I started back in February. I got my statements and calculated just over 3k owed. Barclays offered me £1800 in April and i turned it down from then on i heard nothing. I wrote to them threatening court again, then to offer (without prejudice) to take the payment minus interest and still heard nothing. So i decided to take them to court. I have just had my case acknowledged by Barclays and awaiting a court date if they file a defence. I am very interested in getting this finished ASAP since i have accumulated another £200+ in charges since.

Can this litigation Dept number help me?
    Barclays - Reclaiming - £3380 - stayed 30/08/07 - £2261 goodwill 20/02/09
    Abbey - Reclaiming £250 - 1st letter - stayed
    MBNA - Reclaiming £400 - received £294
    Morgan Stanley - Reclaiming £138 - received £120
    MINT - reclaiming £110 - received £90
    A&L - £170 charges - £170 back!
  • Moneymax as soon as you get a court date you could ring 0207 116 4753 its the number of Krysta campbell, a legal clerk with the litigations dept she will put you through to whoever is dealing with your case.
Alternatively you could e mail her krysta.campbell@barclays.com.
The litigation team seem to be dealing only with people who have a court date

After chasing Barclays for some weeks for statements I visited the branch and shook them up a bit. We have since received two sets of statements and a letter of apology! Sent the next letter off straight awat adking for fees to be reimbursed and today received a reply from Customer relations at Leicester. I knwo they are under pressure but this doesn't make sense:

"...May I take this opportunity to explain that whilst we will endeavour to respond to you within your timescale outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee that we will do so.
Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a solution within four weeks.
If we are not able to do so we will always write to you explaining what is happening, a full update on our progress will be sent to you within eight weeks..."

It's a bit worrying when a bank cant count!
