hey all,
all of you are so brave! I started this whole process at the begining of May and have sent a letter to barclays threatening court action. I recieved a letter back saying they will investigate and will take upto 8weeks? Im not too sure whether to go through the small claims or wait till 8 wks? not feeling really confident with this but barclays owe me £1500 which i realy could realy do with rite now... any suggestions will be much appreciated to get my confidence up.
Thanks0 -
On the 01st of May 2007, I sent a letter (using template) to Barclays Data Protection requesting a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders I have paid over the last six years.
Unfortunately, after 40days I received no response and therefore phoned them today (11th June 2007).
I was told that my letter has not been received (even though correctly addressed), however they did order the requested information over the phone, although this could take another 40 days to process.
I have reported the above to the Information Commissioner.
What should I do? Accept its not been received and wait another 40 days? or demand statements sooner?0 -
I sent my first letter to Barclays in October to request statements. I have just had a court date set of 27/06/07 last week.
Today, I received a letter offering me £1660.99. My claim was for £2300 including all charges.
I contacted the number on the letter to query why they were offering this, and they offered me the full amount instead.
I am really happy as this has been a nightmare process but had definitely been worth it all.
Thanks so much and good luck to everyone else!!!0 -

Hi there,
I have the same problem, the 40 days expired on 8th June, I have rang their general current account number,08457 555555, and they said they have no record of receiving my letter, I told them I sent it recorded delivery and they got quite arsey about it and said I would need to send them the receipt in order to look into it. It is a joke. I am going to contact the information commisioner, but will this make a difference. What should I do to make them get me my information quicker? Thanks Matt0 -

Hi All,
After about 3 months of internet/letter/court hopping i got a court date for the 18th of June. What should drop through my door but a letter for the litigation team. Nice girl called Kate offered me a decent sum (after a bit of confusion they offered £490.40 for a £1400 claim). My question is this. Do I ask for the full amount (charges + intrest) i could do with the money now you see as ive gone this far. Thanks!

Nice one carolina:T
My court date is July 5th and I'm starting to get twitchy! I rather fancy giving them a ring to try and see if it can get sorted out sooner rather than later. What was your reason for phoning? Just to see if they had any comments re, your case?? Its just that i hate speaking on the phone to strangers and last time I phoned Barclays, after the 'goodwill gesture' i had a very unpleasant and rude chap. However i may be brave enough to ring.0
