Right, I've received my statements from Barclays (having requested them on 1/3/07 - long story!) and am about to send the letter asking for my money back. Do I send the letter to their head office in London, to the branch or is there a specific address it should go to?

    Thanks folks

It's up to you, but i sent all of my letters to my local branch and hand delivered them so that i know they have got them, they have an internal mail system and i dont see why we should pay the postage. It worked for me as i reclaimed nearly £4000 in April.

    Good luck

P.S. when you hand that letter in to your local branch you will walk out with the Biggest fattest grin on your face ever. Trust me.

  • Hi Folks,
I am new here,if you have heard it all before please bear with me !!!
Ok been following all the instructions , claimed £3740.00 from Barclays, has got to stage where i have just applied to court (£120.00 i can barely afford).
Keeping fingers crossed, has anyone got to this with Barclays?and what may happen next?
Also last pay day went £5.60 od they charged me £30.00 so i phoned them up to ask why they had charged me this "illegal" charge, was passed to a higher being and told "Dont worry the maney will be back in your account within 10 mins"
It was.........Does this set a precident with my account? (i mean individually not on a global scale).
    All The Best,
    Paul

I reclaimed all of my charges(nearly £4000) in April, closed my account with them, a couple of weeks later they send me a paying in book and a letter to say sorry you are not happy with us we will resolve the matter of bank charges very soon. i gave them a call and confirmed that i had my money from them and that was the end of that, untill........today i get another letter offering me the FULL AMOUNT AGAIN. not sure if i should accept and put it in a high savings account untill they ask for it back?? What more can i do, i have told them enough times that i have my money back. IDIOTS!!!!!!

Our Court Date Is May 24th, We Have No Solicitor To Act On Our Behalf And Barclays Have Made No Offer Of An Out Of Court Settlement. Our Charges Plus Interest Amounts To £4956.77 But We Also Have An Overdraft Of £1650.
I Received A Letter From Barclays Yesterday Stating They Were Going To Put A Charge On My Property For This Amount Unless It Is Cleared. Obviously If I Win The Case This Will Be Cleared But After Todays Events I Am Now Un Sure Where I Stand. This Is Worrying Me Sick. Would Anyone Recommend Getting A Solicitor At This Late Stage?
Has Anyone Come Up Against Woolwich/barclays And Been Offered Full Refunds Before They Reached The Court Date? Going Up Against A Barclays Lawyer Really Isnt Something I Want To Do But I Also Dont Want To Waste More Money On A Solicitor When There Was No Need.
Reading Through Your Comments I Seem To Be The Only Person Not Offered A Refund At Court Date Stage, We Were Offered £1000 Before I Even Approached The Court But Since Then Nothing. Please Can Someone Put My Mind At Rest By Sharing Their Experience. Thanks Xx

i have called, written sent cheque to barclays requesting my list of charges.. I rang them to remind them over three weeks ago they said no longer than 14 days to recieve would normally take five but due to the high demand for this request they are catching up... The lovely bloke i spoke to said i wouldnt have a problem as he is in the middle of reclaiming his (hahaha)!!, Im just slightly worried as to how long its taking them. I am also fully aware that i havent always been the best as far as staying within my limit is concerned, so im a bit worried to actually reclaim them for this reason, i understand that it doesnt cost 30 quid for them to send a letter but it does cost them more than that when they have paid my direct debits when i havent had the funds available!!, Should i actually claim them??, I also understand that they get the money back plus interest on my part but surely they can win a claim like this??

You are right, LLoyds did win a case today. after reading this article ( link below) it looks like this guy presented a bad defence in court and failed to convince the judge that his claim was lawful.
So just stick to the step by step guide and you should be ok.
