if everyone with claims starts changing banks because they have to or because they feel theirs is behaving badly, surly intheory they will roughly end up with the same amount of customers but different names, plus a shed load of work changing peoples d d s and s o s etc.., is there out there a bank or building society who has acted fairly towards its customers so that people like myself would move to it. when will the time come when one of the banks holds its hands up says sorry repays all monies without court action, adjusts its charges fairly and ends it all. this bank would surely get my buisness and thousands of others?

well, i emailed barclays after their 40 days was up to complain, and said that if i didn't get the info that i had requested within the next 7 days that i would make a complaint to the information comissioner... got a letter 5 days later apologising, and saying that their telephone operator did not realise the importance of my original request (funny, really-considering i actually WROTE to them...). but they are snowed under at the minute with such requests, and that i would receive my statements in due course. now what the HELL is that supposed to mean??? if anyone else here has had a similar response from them, what have you done next? i'm tempted to reply to them, both by letter and e-mail, setting another deadline...though i don't see why i should keep having to give them any more time than they've already had....

    Hi,
Just to let you know I threatened court action after 14 days. With one day to go I received a letter saying the full amount (without interest) was in my account. It was about 560 with interest and they gave me 480 which was amount before interest.

I have 8 days to reply to this matter, Im not sure if Im going to accept this without prejudice then push for the remaining £80 or just take it and do without the hassle.

Worth noting in my letter threatening court action I mentioned my family business has also had a healthy account with barclays for over ten years. Maybe this had a hand in getting it settled quickly. Its worth mentioning if you do have business accounts with them as they may try harder to keep you happy.

Either way I got my dosh. Thanks to everyone on here very much. Paid it off the hybrid cards which i transferred the overdrawft balance to and now Im on a bit of an even keel to start again, overdraft free. I need now to close the parachute account i opened.

thanks again to everyone who helped me.
  • i have tried to go on judgement but it says i cant at this moment i dont know why
  • From what I have read on this forum Barclays seem to be a right pain in the backside with this one and much harder to crack! I have finally filed a moneyclaim claim today (Thurs 17th May) and am calculating when I should next do something, if I haven't heard. Martin says it takes 5 days for the claim to be 'serviced' and the 14 day deadline starts after that. Does anyone know if that is 5 'working' days or 5 actual days. I am claiming £2100 and did actually refuse £1300 I was offered as I am claiming mine in a view to advise other people through my work. I am skint so feel like I should have taken the 1300! Bit I didn't and here I am.....

    Any advice appreciated.

  • I have now got to the point when the defendant(Barclays) have acknowledged the court, : now they get another 14 days to do what they do.

I do have a problem with my claim at the moment, can any one reassure me?

When I wrote to the Bank first I asked them for more than 6yrs worth of penalty charges, having realised my mistake I put in a claim to the courts with the correct amount, will this affect the outcome of the courts judgement? :o

Whenever I have needed inofrmation about the case I have contacted the courts direct, every court has a enquiries person, if you have sent a claim to the courts and are waiting for a reply, phone your local court on the last day of reply, and they will tell where the claim is so far. In any case ring the courts because then you will get up to date info.

Recieved an offer from barclays, not what I asked for but still nice, I have decided to accept as I need the money now to clear a couple of other debts,

The letter they sent had a reply slip and it said there was a reply envelope as well, but there wasn't.......

who do I send the acceptence letter back to?

    Thanks
