    hi im trying to reclaim
my bank charges from barclays, they sent me the old statements and i have worked out that i had 1340 in charges. So i phoned them up and they said they would take 20 working days to look into it so i said ok,i got two letters one saying i would hear no later than by the 28th april and another saying 5th of may.Now i phoned up on friday saying is there any progress being made and the guy said nothing has been noted as yet but we may ask to extend this if nothing has been sorted by then and he said my take up to 8 weeks (its been 5 already) but dont know whether to wait for the 5th and see what happens.what options do i have?can i write to them demanding money sooner because i have been chasing this since middle of jan

further to this the next day i got a letter from barclays saying they would offer me £1050 which is great so posted my letter last week on the 2nd,just phoned them to see if they have it yet,and they said ooh we have thousands of these every day and we havent had your reply yyet, check back at the end of the week if we havent had it grrr, then wait 10 days after that for it to get sent in,i know its worth waiting for but i find it quite disgraceful waiting this long

I've just got my court date for claiming against Barclays (6/7/07). I noticed a number of times people mention about sending off their 'bundle'. Is this the statement the court docs talk of i.e. a doc summarizing why you are claiming and copies of the relevant statements?

Did you get a letter form the courts requesting the bundle or did you send them out as soon as the court date was set ( i have the court address but not a specific one for Barclays other than the general one I have used thus far)

    Cheers for the advice
  • Hey campers,

Its the first time I've used this forum and am after some honest opinions. Since February I've been trying to reclain £870 back from Barclays. Today I (finally!) received a letter offering me £592.50.

Now from what I've read, the majority of you wouldn't accept this and pursue with court, however a) I'm really skint and b) it sounds like the court dates you get are months away!

Approximately how long does it take from actually starting the court process off? Do you know of anyone who has lost? And what percentage get their accounts closed by Barclays?

I already have my parachute account opened with natwest just in case but I still feel like its dragged on enough now..... so honest opinions, is it worth taking it further?

    Cheers xx

    Hi Lucinda
I recieved much the same letter as you, only difference I had already contacted them twice, was waiting for OH payday so can start court proceedings against them, the total I requested with interset was £3739.67, theyve offered me £2370.00, since I sent the 2nd letter Ive had another £120 charges, so unsure of whether to ask for the full amount, or just accept what they've offered, to be honest I could really do with the money sooner rather than later, as on disability. Any advice would be more than welcome.
    Sue

Hi Ginge, nice to see that you had a good offer. Why not give them a ring and tell them that you will be claiming the full amount plus the charges they have taken recently and that you know the court claim will take about 5 months and during those 5 months you will recalculate the interest, that will increase Significantly and reclaim this interest plus court costs that will put the claim closer to £4000. You have nothing to lose, its just a phone call.
What was your total of charges with out the interest? you must remember that you can only claim interest if you START court action.:T

Good on ya. Just remember to be firm and most of all be confident, that money is YOURS and they know that. if you can keep your nerve and show them that you know what you are talking about and doing then you may just convince them that you mean business and get your money back sooner rether than later.

    Good luck. post back tomorrow.:T
