I have requested to reclaim £1800 inc interest on my wifes and I joint account with Barclays. Our letters to them have been jointly signed. During this we have been sent seperate letters one to me and one to my wife on different dates delaying etc with two different referances . My wife received a letter last week offering her £1100 I have been sent a letter today offering me £1090!
This seems that the bank have messed up a bit in their admin. Do we seperately accept their offers which would give us more than we claimed or do we take court proceedinhgs.
do you think that the bank will notice their mistake if we accept their offers and only pay us £1100? Then i wont be able to take them to court for the full amount. or as they have given us written offers they cant legally renege on them?

I have taken Barclays to court using the online system, they offered me a settlement of about half the money which I rejected (they owe me £7600) I have just checked today and found they have posted a defence, any advice on others who have been the unlucky ones to have a defence put in please make contact.

Its getting to be standard for Barclays to put in a defence at the moment, I wouldnt worry to much have a read round the site youll see how common this is, you might get an allocation questionnaire although some courts seem to have dispensed with this. Id sit tight and see what their next move is

    hi, new poster here

i was in the process of writing for my statements when i discovered my salary chq had not credited my account after 3 days and this had resulted in a bounced dd and further £65 in charges, on the same day my chq eventually hit the account, so emailed from online account complaining and adding that i would like my statements for the last 6 years as there have been other instances of this that i had not previously challenged and for them to let me know if they require any fee for the production of statements

received an immediate email response asking for my full home address so they could reply to me and apology for my having to complain, sent back address details and received a reply and tracking number and that it would be placed with a customer relationship manager in the relevant area for investigation

will let you know if this email complaint gets any results as far as statemnts go

  • After recieving another charge this morning i've finally decided to get on with my claim. However i'm unsure where to send the very first letter and cheque for my statements. Do I send it to my local branch, Barclays Head Office, or the Data Protection address?

    Many thanks.

    Hi there,

After receiving 6 years of statements, i've put in a claim for £315.94 (inc. Interest). They replied quite quickly. :D

My claim to was sent on the 20th April, i've given them 14 working days which ends 11th May.

I've just received a letter today (2nd May) saying this..............

Your comments are receiving attention and one of my team will contact you as soon as possible.

May i take this opportunity to explain that whilst we enbeavour to respond to you within timescale outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee that we will do so. Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a solution within four weeks. If we are not able to do so, we will always write to you explaining what is happening. A full report or an update on our progress will be sent to you within eight weeks.

Can anyone advice, should i go ahead and send the second letter when the 14 days are up? Or should i give them the full 8 weeks? Also should the 8 weeks start from my claim going in, or from the date of receiving this letter (today)?

Would anyone think that the letter they sent sounds promising, or hard to tell at the moment? Or has anyone had the same letter sent, and all went well and they paid up :T or did it go to court?

SO many questions i know

I look forward to a response ;) Thanks!

Hi. If its any help. Im in the same situation with Barclaycrad, they have isued a defence, Im just sitting tight, as reading other members they either pay b4 hand or not turn up at court,
Just sit tight, as remember, they charged whatthey wanted, when they wanted, and how much of our charges were related to them putting on initial charges.

    Good luck xx
