    Hello people,

    first time i've chatted

i have used letter1- requesting the statement,letter2 requesting the chrges, - got a reply telling me the answer there complaint within four weeks, i have sent letter3, threating about court after 2 weeks (stuck to my times), will let you know how I get on -

i have requested 3,359 with no interest added, i advised first trust bank if the pay hte charges i will not claim the interest but if i have to go to court i will split my calim into 2/3 with interest added on each.

    finger crossed

dont see many messages here from NI people so do not know how i'll get on.
  • Hey,
I moved to Norway last year but was living in England for many years and amassed a fair share of charges in that time! I'm wondering how I go about claiming from over here? I still have friends in England who can do legwork if necessary, please help:)

    Hi irishwench69

It does sound like Barclays have acknowledged your claim which will then given them a further 14 days which means you can't file for judgement until 28 days from the date they were served.

The MCOL site should say this if you view your claim (mine did)? Perhaps the site is running slowly now as I am sure they are inundated. You could check again tomorrow to see if it's changed? Otherwise it might be worth trying to find a contact number of perhaps MCOL or your local court to get some advice?

Sorry but that's the best advice I can offer.

Thanks for your help Deestar36 :)

I've logged onto the MCOL site again, and the claim is now coming up as acknowledged

Ah well, seems like they do this with most people - guess it's just going to be a drawn out battle!!

  • Soz guys my claim was acknowledged by Barclays on the 28th April is the 28 days from this date or from when the claim was issued on 16th April.

It's an additional 14 days from the date they acknowledge the claim.

The 28 days comes about because it's 14 + 14 days (a max of 14 days for them to acknowledge the claim, and a max of another 14 days after that to prepare a defence from then........)

    HTH :)

    Hi,

This is the Barclays thread - maybe try doing your own thread or search in the forum for other NI ones?

How long ago were you in England, and did you have a UK bank account? You can claim on charges from up to six years ago for UK based accounts, so I'm sure you have a case to claim.

More details on the whole process here --> http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,

Presumably if you're in Norway, you already have another account apart from the one with charges? From there, the next step is getting your bank statements, so you can add up the charges.

Once you have the total amount, there are a couple template letters (as given in the above link, complete with timeframes to send them in! :D ). If you don't get a response then, it's onto MCOL (moneyclaim online) and then possibly court.......more details above!

    HTH :)

    hi
i sent my 1st letter to Barclays asking for my statements on the 19th march and i got a letter back from them dated 23rd, so i was giving them the 40 days from then, which ends on the 2nd!
if i don't get my statements by then (which i dont think i will) what do i do? contact the bank again? thanks guys!
  • I succesfully reclaimed £910 from Barclays in my name and £630 in my husbands.
We also had a business account and the charges differ. If we went overdrawn we were charged for every transaction on our account. Can we reclaim these charges as well. They are listed as a comission charge. Interest is shown seperately which we know we cannot claim. I have looked through the forum but cannot see any reference to these charges. They only appear when we have been overdrawn and not when the account was in credit.
    Any help would be welcome.
