  • yes, although i was only charged £10 per time instead of £30. If they don't make a suitable offer then use this as ammunition!

    Anyone??...

This has happened to me in the past, and I think it is down to the charging period (say from 10th May to 10th June) and they will only charge you 3 times during that period, so if you had 3 charges up to the 10th June, theoretically you could have another 3 during the rest of June. Although having said that I think they largely ignore their own rules.

If i'm wrong, I'm sure some one will correct me!

Lil, You are right it goes by charging periods, my statements go from 17th of one month to the 16th of the next, Ive looked at mine & yep Ive been charged in 1 calender month between 1 & 5 times, what annoys me is when they put you over by putting the charge on in first place.

I am really new to this, sorry.

I sent off the first letter to Barclays for my bank statements with a cheque for £10 on the 7th March this year. On the 14th March i received a letter saying that they would send me my statements and included my cheque as a sign of goodwill.

I still as of yesterday (haven't seen today's post) not received any statements or communication from Barclays. What should my next action be?

Since writing the letter we have moved, but all post is being re-directed to our new address. I have told my local branch about the change of address, could this have confused matters?

Many thanks for any help :D

  • Hello all,

Barclays have put in a defence against my court claim and I am told this will now go to court.

What do i need to do in preparation for court. Im afraid if I go in un-prepared I will simply lose regardless if I have a valid claim (which I have).

In their defence they have said I did not provide them with the dates and particulars of each charge, but i did with 2 of my letters.

I have also heard that Barclays normally crumble at the last minute and offer to settle. Is this the case? and if so when? Will I still need to submit the papers which I intend to rely on in court 14 days before the court date? Is this the point at which they back down? I have also lost my bank statements - will these be needed in court?

I would be grateful of any help you can provide.

    Many Thanks

    Seejai in Leicester.
  • Hi I am new to this site, I am trying to get my son and daughters charges back from Barclays, I have got to the stage were they offered 75% of the money. I wrote back stating not acceptable, but being reasonable would allow them to keep 3.00 per charge. I gave them 10 days to reply. I did not hear anything so rang, the girl on the phone advised they had 15000, cases on the go, and that if an offer had been made, they would not increase it, and it could be more than a month, she said if I wanted to go to court then do so. Do you think I should now go on to small claims court, or wait until the month is up. I am getting nervous, please help
  • ... and guess what, 5 days over the 40 days, no statements, not even the first ones that they (allegedly) sent. Have complained bitterly to the branch, have been invited into the branch tomorrow to "talk about it" and, if things are to be believed, discuss refund of the charges. All the charges? As I have said before, we will see ....

Well, went into the branch, have lodged a formal complaint and guess what? Have ordered MORE statements, thats 3 lots ordered now and none received. They have told me that I will have these latest set of statements by 10 days' time but "hopefully you will have received the others by then". I just snorted with indignation.

Please see my posts. I have now apparently had THREE (yes, THREE) sets of statements in the pipeline, two missing and one being reordered. I don't think they are lost in the post at all, I think they aren't sending them out.
