  • Post came this morning, as expected NOTHING from Barclays. Phoned the Leicester number 08457 555 555 and spoke to a lovely lady. She confirmed that I should have had the statements by now, would send me duplicates and confirmed that Barclays waive the £10 change. She said she couldn't understand why I hadn't had correspondence from them (overwhelmed I suspect)! Lets see if THESE statements show up this week ........

... and guess what, 5 days over the 40 days, no statements, not even the first ones that they (allegedly) sent. Have complained bitterly to the branch, have been invited into the branch tomorrow to "talk about it" and, if things are to be believed, discuss refund of the charges. All the charges? As I have said before, we will see ....
    Claimed back in 2007
    Barclays Bank £2245
    Barclaycard £ 504
    Capital One £ 100

    NOW SAVING LOTS OF MONEY!

hi everyone, very swift response to my MCOL dated 16April, I have received 'Acknowledement of Service' from Northampton County Court dated 18 April.!!!! and Barclays intend to defend all of this claim (1061) Also does anyone know if the local court applicable to my banking is an option or does it have to be the defendants area court ? I haven't been sent any info or any allocation questionaire does this come later?
  • Hi
Can anyone out there give a bit of advice? I sent off my claim for charges to barclays and on 26th March (within 1 day of 14 day limit!) March I received a letter from their Customer Relations Dept, complete with a leaflet explaining their complaints procedure and explaining they were investigating my complaint and would have a decision by 24th April. On 20th April I receive another letter telling me they remain unable to respond fully to my concerns at present, but they will contact me again no later than 23rd May. My original letter was posted to my local branch but all mail from them has come from Retail Banking Customer Relations in Leicester.

    Now my queries:

    1. Should I ignore their letters fobbing me off and threaten with court now?

    2. Should subsequent letters be sent via local branch or directly to the advisor (named) who send the last letter?

PS: original claim £1700 + any subsequent charges, which since Feb is another £180 (usual case, more charges, more debt). I WANT THE LOT!!!

    Cheers

    1. Ignore their letters they are just stalling for time, that letter has been sent to sooooo many people. Stick to your time table and not theirs.

    2. Keep on sending yor letters to your local branch as they have an internal mail system so why should we pay postage. I hand delivered all of my letters to my local branch and it worked for me as I reclaimed over £3700 just over a week ago.

    Good luck to you:T

  • Hi,

Just want some help from somebody please. I posted my letter for recovery of charges to Barclaycard (I have a visa and mastercard with them) to the Data Protection Team at Northampton. This was done on the 23 March (recorded delivery). As of yet Ive heard nothing, its now 31 days since postage date.

Does anyone have a telephone number for me to phone them or would a letter be better asking what the delay is. I know that they have 40 days to reply, but theres only just over a week to go until the 40 days are up.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve.

  • Hi

I've just sent the first letter asking Barlcays for my money back (after a long hard battle to get my copy statements!!) and I want to be prepared as I'm sure they'll let it get to the threat of going to Court stage.

Is filing a claim on line a basic procedure or is there further knowledge I should equip myself with before going ahead as I really don't want to mess up on MCOL. Where do I read about time deadlines etc, is there a dedicated thread on here to explain the court procedure step by step and that tells you how to complete the forms, what to do next and when to take the next steps etc?

    Thanks for any help
  • On the 18th april i thought enough was enough, id sent a letter to barclays sayin look you owe me £4110.60 including interest, but was willin to except the £3650 that it was without interest.
Well in the letter i gave them 14days to get back to me, and well ive waited almost a month, time to start the court produre,
court proceding has been issued against barclays, for the full amount

on the what to write on moneyclaim online, sumthing that talks about 0.0267% interest per day is that on the total amount of the claim or is it only the interest on the interest my charges are, cus well if its the first one then im getting an extra 83 per day, the latter its only 13 a day. could someone advise which what extra i get???

p.s they have untill the 7th to enter a defence

Some help needed re: charges please..

I regularly get the standard paid referral fee letter from barclays most months saying I have gone over my overdraft and have been charged £30 blah blah blah..

It quite clearly states "You will only pay one of these fees per account, per day and you will not be charged more than 3 fees per account within any monthly charging period"...

In March alone I was charged £30 on FIVE separate occasions, so does this mean they have contradicted what they have stated in the letter?..

Can I launch any sort of complaint/compensation claim regarding this, and will it help me if/when my current claim for default charges goes to court?..

Has anyone else been charged more than THREE times in any one month by Barclays?

    Any info will be appreciated.

    Thanks.
