Usually this is charged when you are over the agreed overdraft limit, but they still allow your payment to go through but charge 10 for the priveledge. On my account they say they will only take three of these charges out per month, but on many occassions have taken more than this in one calender month. Claim them aswell, as they are still theoretically an unfair charge. Often they send a letter informing you of this charge after it has been applied. but strangely with me, dont inform me by letter if i have an unpaid out, which is 30 pounds. so it begs the question, what do they do for that 30 pounds??

Is that a new amount that their charging now? My 'Paid Referals' were £30 each and 'Unpaid Outs' £35 each...Obviously they were cheaper back in 2001 (£20 and £25 i think) but i don't have anything like that....Anyway, they can definitly be claimed :D

Hi there, I have two accounts with Barclays and have successfully claimed my charges back on one of them. Can I also claim on my second account?(stupidly I did the one with the smaller claim first to test the waters!)

Has anyone successfully claimed twice from Barclays?

    Thanks,

Could someone please help me? I sent barclays a Data Protection Act 1998
Subject Access Request with a £10 cheque.

Just recieved a letter from them basically saying that

"please be aware that the bank is not under an obligation to present information according to any particular format. Therefore your request to assemble a schedule of charges is turned aside.

They go on to say we'll give you a copy of your bank statemetns for free but

"Some statement information from the period prior to and possible during 1999 to 2000 is manually stored in the form of microfiche and does not fall within the data subject access provisions of the DPA"

"also states the DPA does not oblige the bank to comment about internal policies and procedures"

"Whilst aggregated information is retained for statistical purposes, this would not constitute "personal data" under the DPA and therefore would not be covered by a s.7 DPA subject access request"

Someone please help me and tell me what on earth they are saying in laymans terms and what my next step should be?

Should i wait for my statements and then calculate and send the schedule of charges and second letter requesting they pay my the monies owed??

Hi, this has just happened to me. It took them about 3 weeks to send me the statements (for free as they returned the cheque) I went through the statements and highlighted the charges which came to £540. I shall get this photocopied and send a copy of these statements to them with the letter requesting the money back. If they dont reply, I still have the originals they sent me, so can do the next step.

    Good luck

No its just 14 days from the date you sent it, treat them exactly as they would treat you.

  • I sent my first letter along with a cheque for £10 to barclays around 2 weeks ago asking for them to provide my last 6 years bank statements. I was expecting the standard letter from them but instead i got a letter basically saying that my statements would be sent out to me within the 40 day period free of charge. My cheque was attatched to the letter. Has anyone else had this and how long after this letter has it took people to settle a payout with barclays? Will keep posting my progress as it happens.

I think ginger means 40 daysu196.gif...Not including weekends/bank holidays...best to check when they received your letter and go 40 days from there....u66.gif

don't know if it depends on type of account you have or not, but they have been doing this to me for 4 yrs or so. My unpaids out have been £30 each but i dont have many of those. So it seems that the banks themselves charge varying amounts to different customers!!!! I guess they cant decide what to charge lol

but im close to the mcol stage and i mclaiming all these charges.
