Hi,
I wrote to Barclays 25 days ago asking for a list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders I have paid over the last six years. Also enclosing cheque for £10...
Looking at my bank statements, they cheque for £10 has not been drawn and I've heard nothing from them.
Has anyone else been waiting this long or is this normal or me just being impaitent?0 -

Hi All
Hibees1875-- Thanks for the help on the bank account, reckon I will have to read up about the way the accounts are handled, dont want to get into this mess again, gonna have to cut back on my little extras, and just go for a bog standard account.
Dirty epic-- Any amount that youve been unfairly charged is worth claiming back, it belongs back in your pocket not the big boys at the banks.
Scotty69-- Have you had any correspondance from Barclays, if so I reckon you sends it to the address on the letter, Ive not heard anything form them at all, and they on the 14 days before I take them to court.
Vanman7-- Thats brill news for you, bet Barclays quake when they see your name on letters or hear your name on phone.:rotfl:Murphys no more pies member 48:beer:

Hi
New to all this but I have been reading the site on and off for a while. I sent nearly 3 weeks the first letter to barclays asking for my money back (£4455), obviously in the letter I said I would give them 14 days, as I say on wednesday that will be 3 weeks, I have given them a few extra days because of the easter holidays etc, I am now writing out the next letter threatening to take them to court. I did not receive even an acknowledgement from Barclays, they have totally ignored me .. what I want to know is, is this usual with Barclays? what I have read is they usually send out a standard letter playing for time but I have received nothing. Should I send it again or just carry on with the next stage?
Many thanks and congratulations to those that have already won.
Best wishes

Hi DJF, Barclays never replied to my 1st letter either, so when the 14 days was up (gave them couple more days for easter too) I sent off my 2nd letter informing them they got 14 days to pay up or will take them to court, dont hang around, they had your cash long enough, time to claim it back, it seems that Barclays do take there time with these things, so just hang on in there.Murphys no more pies member 48:beer:

CHECK THIS OUT GUYS
I asked barclays why my ACCOUNT FEES were at £11.50 and was told that they included the cost of extras like 'car breakdown cover and personal injury cover'. Itold them that i had not asked for this and did not need them as i have cover of my own. They said that it shows on my statment that i am paying for it and i told them; "no it doesnt, it say account fee not car breakdown cover and personal injury cover". Ithen asked them to provide me with strict proof that i agreed to the costs in the way of a hard copy of a contract with my signature on it. They have failed to do so, and have now sent me a letter saying they are refunding me £129 for the last 12 months fees. RESULT
Worth checking out.
Woo hoo!! Vanman's on a roll!!!! Mate, you need to post your recent bank charges reclaim success on here more often! There are still people asking if anyone has succeeded!!!! Your story is motivational stuff!!! On the basis of your advice I rattled of my court bundle last night and posted it today. I wait with baited breath!0 -
Has anyone been contacted before their Court date with Barclays with an offer to pay in full-or do they wait until you turn up at Court?
I got a letter on 11th April offering FULL payment £3482.29.
couldnt believe it. thought i was in for a long wait. i dont want to sound greedy but i wasnt totally happy as i had £270 of charges to go on from charges they levied after i started the claim. so i phoned them and spoke to a WONDERFUL lady called Katherine Ashton( i wish everyone at barclays was as nice as her) i asked her what they intended to do about the other charges and without hesitation she said "thats not a problem sir we can just add them on to the total" i was gob smacked.. Money was in next day and i withdrew it all and I closed my account on the spot. I could have had the money on the same day but i was away all day and couldnt sign the form and fax it back, but never mind still got it.
why not check out the link below you will find some very good success stories here. save the page in favorites as people post on it every day.

Hi there, I've got 2 accounts with Barclays - I claimed £190 successfully from them at the beginning of the year but am just about to send off my letter for the second account which is £615 (stupidly I did the smaller claim first!) - has anyone successfully claimed from two accounts from the same bank?
Thanks,

Has anyone else got to this stage with Barclays?
It's now been over 40 days since my initial request (22nd February)for details of charges, I've been given the usual delay tactics letter but I've kept to the schedule (I wrote and told them I'd be contacting the Information Commissioner if they didn't reply - still no statements), I keep getting "cut off" when I phone them and today (eventually) they told me they sent statements on 31st March which I know they haven't as I have received nothing. They told me I couldn't prove I hadn't received them. I told them proof of posting is not proof of receipt and that's why I sent all my requests Recorded Delivery and that they hadn't got a leg to stand on legally unless they can prove I'd signed for them, which of course they can't.
I have today written to the Information Commissioner detailing all mail (copies sent), phone calls (dates/times/who I've spoken to), complaints numbers logged to Barlcays, so we'll wait and see. I just wondered if anyone else has had to take it to the Information Commissioner and if so have you had any success by doing so?
Please help, I'm losing faith!0
