Hi, after logging a complaint about not receiving statements, I have them in my hand now. yipee,

Anyone any tips on what to look out for for charges? what is the code they use on the copy statements. Thanks guys

You can only claim for Paid referals, Refused d.d's/s.o's...They'll all be for £20-£35...you can not claim any for any interest you was charged for being over your overdraught..even if the charges sent you into unauthorised overdraught...nor can you claim for any services they supplied you that you was charged you for...ie. Payment protection insurance, additions, loan set-up fees, etc....

I wish i was claiming from Halifax..they pay up so fast!!!
I just got a letter from MCOL saying my 'Judgement By Default' was rejected because my case is set (eg paid, transferred, etc). phoned them up to see what this meant (thought Barclays had told them i'd been paid!) and was told it has been transferred to my local court..Barclays defended....will be getting transfer papers soon and was told to ring my court next week as they should have my paperwork/case details and a date for the hearing by then...Hope i get the same reply from the judge as Pitprop, 'dispensing' the Allocation Questionnaire.....sounds like fun!u083.gif
  • I phoned Barclays yesterday (40 days up on 18 April), just to enquire if they had sent the statements yet. Told by young girl that they had 40 calendar days to respond, I said yes I know, but they are up on Wednesday, and if you haven't sent them out by now, I doubt I will get them by Wednesday. Was then put on hold for 15 minutes, as the department I needed to speak to was busy. Put the phone down after 15 mins, nobody came back to me, and for all I know, I could still be waiting now ......

Phoned again this morning, told by a harrassed sounding lady that they had 40 WORKING days to reply, told her that this was wrong, and that it was calendar days. Repeated the above and told her I would be reporting them to the Information Commissioner if I didn't get them. Was put on hold for 5 minutes, then told they had been sent out on 10 April. We will see .....:rotfl:

Has anyone just had money put into there account without them knowing it, as if the bank has made a partial offer or something. If you receive a partial offer then is there any template letters that can be sent???

    Hi all,
I've received a letter off barclays offereing me the goodwill gesture of £1800 instead of £2800. Do i write back now saying i still intend to take them to court, and do i begin court proceedings now? or shall i give barclays 7 days to reply and wait?

You need to send Barclays a letter saying something like " I will accept this as partial payment and without predujice however I will be pursing the full amount in court".

Below is a link to CSA (Consumer action group) which has excellent template letters for this type of scenario. If you haven't already you will need to register with them first. It is VERY important you do this if gpoing for the whole amount.

    Good luck

Barclays sent heavy to collect card and chequebooks.I wrote polite letter to Barclays 28th March requesting refund of unfair bank charges over past six years. They have always been happy to let me go above overdraft because they were making the charges. They said they were pleased to receive my complaint and included new leaflet they have had printed.they made no mention of refund of charges. They said they would reply to my complaint by 5th April. On the 2nd April they wrote to say they would not be able to reply until 5th May. In the meantime, when I checked my balance my card was retained. A call centre phoned me to ask me not to use cheque book. I agreed. On the 5th April, very late in the evening a debt collector called and hung around for a long time. He then put a letter through the door which was dated 2nd April threatening that if I did not return the card and cheque book within two days of date of letter he would be back.Because Barclays had not replied to my original request I issued court proceedings and am awaiting to see if the claim is acknowledged.

Interesting.... I've had exactly the same letter, and from the sounds of it I am at a similiar stage in reclaiming my charges.

I received a letter saying that they would respond by 30th April, and if I had stuck to my timescale I would have been due to start court proceedings on 11th April, but as I am a little bit skint until 23rd April I was prepared to wait.

Now, however I am not. I am livid and am going into my branch on Tuesday morning to say "stuff your account. I will be closing it on 23rd and all your letter has achieved is that I will be taking you to court now and not giving you the benefit of an extra two weeks.

    a very cross lil x

  • Hi,
I also received a goodwill offer from barclays today, dated 12.4.07 of £1870.00. I am trying to claim £2996.77 inc interest. I wrote a 2nd letter to barclays on 12.4.07 instructing of my intention to start court proceedings, so i am going to wait the outcome of that and then start court proceedings.

    Good luck
    Bob
