Hi, I'm a newbie.
I sent a letter asking for £1795 back from Barclays. I received a letter back saying they were looking into it and wld reply before 11th April. I followed my schedule and 14 days later I sent them the letter before court action. My letter crossed another letter from them in the post which said that to help resolve the matter they needed to collate more info and wld contact me before 8th May. I have about one more week before I shld be taking them to court. I think I shld go ahead anyway as I cannot imagine what sort of info they wld need to collate. I sent them a full schedule of the charges, plus interest, what exactly do they need to know? What does anyone else think? Has anyone else received letters like this?
Thanks, Caroline
Barclays are doin the same with me, trying to fob me off twice. Ignore their letter delaying things. proceed on YOUR timescale, as i am. They have 10 days before i start court action. If i did it their way i'd be waiting until mid-may for them to say they need yet more time. Remember, while they have your money it's earning them profits. That money should be earning YOU profits or at least reducing any debt. Stick to your guns. They've had plenty of time. If it was the other way round do you think they would wait???!!!Sorry but please keep your signature to 4 lines in length - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Barclays sent heavy to collect card and chequebooks.I wrote polite letter to Barclays 28th March requesting refund of unfair bank charges over past six years. They have always been happy to let me go above overdraft because they were making the charges. They said they were pleased to receive my complaint and included new leaflet they have had printed.they made no mention of refund of charges. They said they would reply to my complaint by 5th April. On the 2nd April they wrote to say they would not be able to reply until 5th May. In the meantime, when I checked my balance my card was retained. A call centre phoned me to ask me not to use cheque book. I agreed. On the 5th April, very late in the evening a debt collector called and hung around for a long time. He then put a letter through the door which was dated 2nd April threatening that if I did not return the card and cheque book within two days of date of letter he would be back.Because Barclays had not replied to my original request I issued court proceedings and am awaiting to see if the claim is acknowledged.0

Same thing happened to me last Wednesday. The MCOL court in Northampton sent me a bundle of papers this morning. The defence by Barclays the notice of transfer to my local court and a new addition the judge at Northampton has ruled that the allocation questionaire be dispensed with??? I called my local court and they told me its a new thing and they were not sure what when or how would happen next!!!! If they don't know then what chance do we joe public stand. Apparently its so new that the court staff can't advise what I should be doing next!!!
Sounds like we will get court date hope we don't have to do a court bundle but that's wishful thinking xI am addicted to this site:j
going to court on 20/7:eek: Barclays! WON!!!!!!!!!
Mbna just received statements 2/6.0 -
Just a quick question to anyone who has seen it all the way through.... How long do you usually have to wait for a court date once you have filed? And then when (in your experience) do Barclays pay out? Is it literally the day before the hearing?0

Hello,
My father is getting overdrawn by Barclays for something like £30-£35. Some of these charges are my fault because of the Internet and i out of guilt, i want to get him to reclaim the charges back.
But is it to late or can i still get him to send a letter requesting the last 6 years worth or statements etc?
Also are all Barclay's Bank Charge Reclaims Successful (i don't want to be the first to fail!)?
Thanks,

A number of questions:
1. Whose account is it? Yours or your dad's? If it is not yours then you have no standing in law to make a claim.
2. Why do you say "is it too late?". You can only claim for the preceding 6 years.
3. I think you have to do your own research in respect of success of claiming. However, in litigation you really must understand that there is no guaranteed success as so many different factors apply.0 -
1. It's my dads account and im helping him out. He's going to be doing all the letters etc.the Money Saving Expert team do not moderate forums, so if you see something that shouldnt be here report it! :beer:0
