I filed a court claim on the 28th March – Meaning their 14 days would be up tomorrow I think??

However Barclays have transferred about ¾ of the amount into my account as a goodwill gesture?

Does this mean they have acknowledge the claim and how long do they have now?

This is typical of their arrogance and diverting tactics. They have put the partial amount in there in the hope you will stop the claim. I would continue with the claim and in any communication state, you will accept their 'gesture' as partial payment, but will persue them for the rest. Wait until you hear from the court for the next step.
  • Am having similar problem - tho they have not yet transferred the money. I would accept with court costs but don`t know how to go about this !!

The total amount - £520 and they have offered £340 so a big difference?

On my MCOL it still says it's waiting for them to acknoledge? When is their time up?

    Thanks for the help guys.
  • Sent my letters to Barclays.

They got till 23rd April to respond with the last 6 years info.

They sent my cheque back saying they would do it free of charge. I am not a fool. :naughty: though Barclays and I know they have done it to try and make me look at them in a different light!

Keep posting hope anyone who is successful!!

more like barclays have not cashed your cheque so there is no proof that you have requested the data, so when you complain to the comissioner all you have is a reciept of post of a none specific letter and they are less likely to get screwed off the information comissioner for not giving you the details.

    Do they do that then?

I have the letter and it does state in it that they do not keep list of just the default charges etc. but that they will send 6 years worth of statements.

I'll guard it with my life!!

well i sent off my DPA letter 20th February and only recieved the reply stating they had recieved my letter and forwarded my cheque back to me and i have not recieved any information since..I have rung them on 3 occasions each telling me that statements are on their way i have not recieved anythin. It is now over the 40 day timescale and i have sent them a reminder letter stating that they have 14 days to get my statements out to me or i am starting court proceedings.

I am worried what to do if they do not send me my statements within 14 days because i have yet to calculate how much they owe me.. I dont want to quit all this bercause what they have done is wrong but im a little confused on what to do????

If i do not hear from them in 14 days what action shall i take then??
  • The banks would have acknowledged online so if you go to MCOL you can see if they have done that.
You could try calling them up and ask for your full amount or you could bide your time and let the process run which would mean you get the full amount claimed + interest + court costs back

  • Hi everyone,

i rang barclays today as i have had the additions account for the past 3 years and i asked about downgrading to a regular account but the woman informed me that because i use my overdraft, that i will be charged more than the additions fee in interest becaise i get a preferential rate on the 1st £250 of my overdraft..and with a regular account, the interest will be 15% on any amount of overdraft used:confused: ..anyone know if this is correct!

    Cheers
