Hi all, I was wondering if someone could shed some light for me.
I am basically helping my best mate try and re-claim her bank charges. She called me today to tell me that they had finally arrived, but that she didn't understand the payments on her account. She has lots of "paid referals" of £20 each and a couple of "unauthorised overdraft fees" of £20 each. Can she claim both of these back?0 -

Should I allow for the bank holiday or just keep to the original deadline?
I sent my LBA today.
Stick to your original deadline m8...you don't allow for weekends so why do it for bank holidays...
They've probaly got some poor git working the weekends, etc, anyway...my last letter i recieved was sent out on a sunday?!?...was told that on two seperate occasions when i rung up to find out if what was happening before i filed online..letter finally turned up a day after i filed online (thursday)..:cool:0 -

Hi
well, by the sounds of things, i'm one of the unlucky ones who's off to court!
Barclays have decided to defend, and sent back there response, about 44 pages FULL of large words, all very frightening!!
So, i was wondering if anyone can offer some advice, any words of encouragement!
I'm going through with it, i;ve decided that! I have no money, and so if i do lose, then, well i;ve lost already!! But not backing down scred from them!
If there are any words of wisdom then i;d appreciate it, just so i'm kinda prepared!!
Not sure what to do next even!!
Thanks Anyway!

They are bluffing if you ask me. Should they turn up at court the judge is sure to ask for standard disclosure and they will have to tell the world the actual costs of bouncing cheques, direct debit etc... some banks are going to the last stages of the legal process to try to scare the customers off. I dont buy it.....Stick to YOUR timescale. Dont take ANY bull. DONT be intimidated. The law is on OUR side.
Feel free to thank me if I was a help

Hi,
I am claiming over £5500 including interest with barclays bank. On MCOL they have aknowledged my claims ( on the last day!!) but i am SOOO skint and right upto my overdraft limit on these accounts.. There is barley enough to pay the bills this month...!!
With this in mind i have written them a letter explaining this and have asked them for three quiarters of the amount claimed.. £3700..
I made it perfectly clear that if they didnt want to pay me this amount i was more than prepared to go all the way which would cost them almost £2k more.
Has anybody else tried this? Did it work? do you think it will work for me?? Any advice would be appreciated...

Hi dont know if this will help you or not, my claim is with Halifax. got a letter last saturday with an offer, I phoned them Tuesday and bartered with them saying that if we could resolve it today on the phone I would drop the court letter and interest charges. So might be worth you ringing them and putting it to them. They did say to me that they would not take the interest into account but I said that the court would if I continued along that path. Hope that helps some. Good luck0
