  • Hi There

I got the eight week complaint letter, followed this up last week (two weeks after their letter) saying that I did not accept their proposed resolution, and would be taking them to small claims court.

This morning I received a letter saying they would offer me a goodwill payment of £470. I asked for £630 (without interest), so I am going to accept this.

That's £160 difference, and considering this is money I had considered lost forever, anything is a bonus, and in this case, I believe this to be a major victory!

    Keep going at it, folks!

I called barclays up last nite on my way home to make sure that they had recieved my letter, royal mail advised that the letter was receieved on monday 26th march, but barclays adivsed me that they only received it on wed 28th( could this be down to barclays have poor internal mail service), and that i would have a answer in 14day from the 28th,
im not to sure how to procced, im wanting to get the nxt letter sent of now as their 7days that i said in the letter that they had to sort it out is up, but should i wait untill barclays 14days period is up?? (this would take me up to the 11th april)

please help, is this just a delay tactic, should i send off the next letter saying your going to court if its not done???

I think you'll have to wait for the 11th m8...this is what i've read in other peoples advise on what to do in your situation and done myself....I sent two letters, which they received on two days apart, for two accounts...they told me they were gonna be dealing with both my claims as one after i'd sent two LBA's out..again two days apart..gave them two extra days before i filed my claim for both accounts as one claim...Saved me £120 too...
    Thanks Barclays!a1492.gif

    Hello can anyone advise me?

I have been following Martin's advice in reclaiming my bank charges from Barclay's that amount to a total of £2985.51 inc interest. I sent the first template letter requesting that they settle my claim. I was just about to send them the second letter telling them they have 14 days before I commence court action as they had not replied, when the postman dropped a letter through my door. Barclays sent me a letter stating "sorry you have had to contact regarding the level of service you have recieved. We are looking into your concerns and will let you have an answer or update as soon as possible, but no later than 24 april 2007."

Now what do I do? It appears they are trying to put me off, do i send that second letter stating that their response is not satisfactory or do I give them until 24/4/07 before doing so?

    Please help:confused:

    Stick to your timetable.
  • Hi,
    Anybody able to advise me?
I have sent the second letter out and the 14 days are up today and nothing came in the post today. Shall I now send the letter to take them to COURT ? I have worked out it is going to cost me £80 to proceed with the court though !!! Really not sure what to do as they owe me £840..... Please help and advise.
  • Hi HStef81, I am in a very similar position to yourself in that I am claiming £3000 (inc interest) from Barclays. They replied to my initial letter saying that they would reply 'no later than 23rd March'. I opted to wait and received an offer from them on the 21st for £1880 as a 'goodwill gesture'. I have since replied to them saying this is unacceptable and that they 14 days to respond or I will take them to court. The 14 days are up on Friday this week, so I expect to hear from them in the next day or 2, if not I'm going to take them to the small claims court as per Martin's advice.

This money is mine and should never have been taken from my account, so I'm not willing to let them give only some of it back to me.

    Good luck!

  • I'm also about to go in to battle with Barclays over charges on my closed student account from 4 years ago, I'm glad that I know what to expect from them now!

  • Just after 2 weeks after sending my second letter I received an offer from Barclays (which I declined). If I was you I'd give 'em till Thursday and send your next letter on Friday.
  • Barclays offered me £750 from £1990 - if true admin costs are really only between £2.50-£4.50 then I should at least look to get back 80% nearer £1,500
I phoned and offered to see if they would like to mediate as is a suggestion but the employee was adamant that was the final offer. They have caused me a lot of grief in the past and I would like advice on whether to continue
with my court threat. They have had the 14 day warning prior to sending offer and I was about to issue the summons.
