You can just file your claim if its gone past the timescale you set for them...they should know the process by now...

    Hi all

I have bank statements for the past three years so contacted Barclays via Telephone banking to send me statements for the three years, they said no problem, its been two weeks now and I'm still waiting...I've called thema few times but they say 'that department is really snowed under" I've calculated my charges for the last three years, my question is should I write to Barclays and request the charges for the last three years and then wait for the previous three years statements to arrive (if they ever do) or should I wait and claim all of the charges at once? Do I have any thing to lose if I make two claims for sepearte time periods? Will I be lose out if I wait and then the charges go down to £12?

Hope this makes sense, any help greatly appreciated!

Hey peeps - for those that wondered if they may get a better settlement offer from Barclays after the OFT have released their report, I read in todays Financial Mail that the OFT report is now not due until the end of the year. Exact text is:

"the OFT said it will broaden its investigation into bank charges and announce a decision before the end of the year."

So everyone (even those who have only just started the process)who's currently got a claim on going should be well and truly settled by then. Just means that we all stand a better chance of getting the full amount rather than having to consider settling on a figure that allows them £12-£15 per charge (what the OFT is expected to say is acceptable).

My case with Barclays has gone to court but no date fixed yet. I went only 3 dates over the six years, i know this seems thick on my part but does anyone think this is a problem? I had read on here somewhere that is dosnt really matter in the bigger picture, any judge will just knock those ammounts of any award given. Do i have anything to worry about?
  • I've sent Barclays a figure that I would accept without taking it to court, however I'm not very optomistic that they'll cough up so I'm trying to prepare myself.

When I sent my original claim I did not include interest but on Martins 3rd standard letter the court claim states that I will be claiming interest. As they will very likely decline my offer I want to get all that I'm entitled to so how would I go about adding interest onto the original amount requested? Does the interest start from the day the sum was withdrawn from my account? If it does then I presume that I need to calculate each individual charge.

    Advice please.
