    Hiya.

Ive received a partial offer from my bank charges claim.
The charges come to £3030.00 and the offer has come through at £2270.00.
I've called Barclays up and they have said if they want me to increase the offer then i need to put it in writing.

Is there a standard letter? I thought i'd seen one but now i dont seem to be able to find it. Something like i'll accept the money and pursue for the balance.

Can anyone assist me please? Ive already sent the 'Im disappointed ive not had a satisfactory reponse' letter but when i called they said they will not respond to this one now.

Thanking you in advance for any assistance!

I sent off for my statements on the 21st Feb without the £10 cheque. Luckily I recieved my statements on the 12th Mar, a lot sooner than I thought, especially with me not sending the £10. Although saying that, my brother received a letter from Barclays last week saying that they were sending his statements free of charge, and returned his money. Has this happened to anyone else?

Same happened to me I sent off the letter requesting statements and received a letter back saying that they would get the statments to me within the 40 day period and enclosed the cheque saying that there was no charge for this. They have until the 11th April to send me the statements. I do not expect to receive them before then as they do seem to be delaying things, probably waiting for the ruling you mentioned.

    Hi everyone,
Its a pleasure to be here, please help and tell me if this has happened to any?

I got the standard letter back after enclosing £10 cheque and asking for my statements. It said, "Barclays will on this occassion send copy statements free of charge " and sent my cheque back. However, they also stated that data prior to 2000 is held manually and thereofre there will be delay in sending me my statements. Data prior to 2000 is of no cencern to me as its outside the 6 year deadline. I have written to them explaining this but had no response. Still there was no sign of the statements either, so I logged a complaint at the call centre with a refernence and wrote another letter again explaining that I have not requested data prior to 2000, and there should be no delay as a consequence. However I ve still received no reply or my statements. Its been about 5-6 weeks now. Any advice.

    Thanks very much

P.S. Barclays also claimed they have no legal obligation to comply to any data protection laws, and therefore the 40 day period was irrelevant. (forgot to put this in above post). thanks again

Yeah a couple of people posted a standard response type thing of which I have just sent back myself it went something like this:

I am very grateful for the speed and graciousness you are showing with my claim, thank you. However I will not accept your offer of £xxxx as full and final settlement of my claim. I will accept this as part payment and without prejudice, but I will continue with my claim for the full balance of the charges.

    Hope that it works!!!

Hi, not posted that much on here but I thought it was about time.
I sent off for my statements on the 21st Feb without the £10 cheque. Luckily I recieved my statements on the 12th Mar, a lot sooner than I thought, especially with me not sending the £10. I totted up the charges over the last 6 years and sent the letter asking for the money back on the 19th March. The letter has still not arrived at the bank after 9 days! I have sent parcels to Australia quicker than this!
Anyway, thats as far as Im upto on this.
One question I had was, with the OFT ruling in a matter of days, will it apply to claims that have already been set in motion, ie my letter having been sent before the ruling? Im guessing it will affect all new and ongoing claims.

    An Update

I just got back from work to find a letter from Barclays saying, and I quote,

"We are sorry you have had to contact us about the level of service you have received from Barclays. Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

We are looking into your concerns and will let you have an answer or update as quickly as possible, but no later than 20 April 2007. In the meantime blah blah blah"

Now, after speaking with Royal Mail who said my letter had not got there, do I take it that the letter has arrived or this is just a standard letter after requesting statements?

Also the 14 days from when I sent the letter is up on Monday. If I dont here from them do I send my LBA off or do I give them 14 days from the date of the letter they sent as I dont have proof/signature when they received my letter.

    Im sooooo confused. HELP ME!

    Hi there,

I finally received an offer through from Barclays today offering me £1370 of the £2195.46 I am claiming.

I'm not too sure what to do here because the offer came 3 days after I sent off the court bundle.

Now do I accept the offer and continue with the court claim or do I continue with the court claim without replying to their letter accepting the offer?

I'm a bit worried that if I continue I won't get a penny, please advise.

    Regards to you all.

    Hi,

    This is what i did:

opened the calculator thing on the reclaim your banck charges page, typed in the charges for 2001, printed them off, and so on for each year. I also typed them into Excel, but thats only because i didn't read Martins instructions properly.

I printed off my excel spreadsheed and sent that off with the letter to the bank.

    hth

No all you need to do is make a list of all the charges over the years. I used an Excel spread sheet; account details at the top then list type of charge (i.e Paid Referral) amount & date (each year headed) and of course the grand total :) Enclose this with the first standard letter from Martins article.
