I just received this letter from Barclays in reply to me sending the first letter two weeks ago today....

    Dear Mr XXXXXX

We are sorry you have had to contact us about the level of service you have received from Barclays.Thankyou for taking the tome and trouble to do so.We are looking into your concearns and we will let you have an answer or update as qucikly as possible no later than 2nd April 2007.In the meantime if you wish to discuss that matter further please call us on xxxxxxxx I have enclosed a leaflet explaining how Barclays work to resolve complaints ,I hope you find this usefull.Thankyou for bringing this to our attention.

Has anyone else received this letter as it doesn't really mention anthing about my letter to them claiming £600 + off them.
Also should I wait a week and see what they say or do I just send the second letter regardless.

Thanks in advance for any help
  • ITF!!!! I received the same letter and about a week later I received an offer of settlement (which I intend to refuse). I'd say hold out for a week or so and see what happens if nothing send the 3rd letter.

A CHEQUE off Barclays today £1252 in full.

Should have been in court today and they phoned Thursday to settle.

So keep at it as it is worth it in the end

PS Does anyone know the easiest way to downgrade additions accounts to become regular free accounts again ?

    Alex

Just tell them to remove it! I did this via telephone banking, told them I would rather have the £14.50 a month in my pocket rather than theirs. Incidentally, since I had it removed at the beginning of last month, their counter staff have tried to persuade me to reinstate it, as have call centre staff when I phoned to enquire about my ISA. Shameful!
    Claimed back in 2007
    Barclays Bank £2245
    Barclaycard £ 504
    Capital One £ 100

    NOW SAVING LOTS OF MONEY!

So to make sure im understanding you correct you would send the 2nd letter ?(as im am yet to do this ) then hold out to see what happens or would you wait and see before sending the 2nd letter...

Oh yes I can see why you deleted part of my name but it is meant to be ITFC NUT so not intended to be offensive to anyone.
    Thanks again for your advice
  • Sorry yes I mean the second letter (I always include the letter requesting my statements as a letter i.e letter 1). Personally I'd wait a week and then if I haven't heard anything more I'd send the 2nd letter, chances are you'll receive an offer any day now...fingers crossed :)

Oh and your user name was censored by the forum censor not through my own edit! I wondered what had happened there myself until I had a good look at your username!
