I seem to recall that they took about 3 weeks to provide me with my statements, actually I think it was 3 weeks and a day ;)
  • Actually I just checked and it was actually 4 weeks and a day http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=4352339#post4352339

Dont worry about the cost of court fees if you are on benifits, if you get to the court stage then use your local county court not MCOL,, and ask for EX160 form and this will exclude you from the court fees, but you will need to supply proof of benifits along with this. If i can do it then im sure you can.

    Good luck to you.:j

I have a court date but it's ages away (6th June) and I'm getting bored of waiting so I've decided I am going to write to Barclays with a figure I'd settle for which would be:

(Full value of claim at 6th June 07) - (£2.50 per charge) = out of court settlement figure

My logic for this is another poster said this is the amount a judge awarded her when Barclays didn't turn up at court. BUT, as the stars of Wednesday's whistleblower programme pointed out the cost is actually £1.50-£2 per charge, my new calculation is:

(Full value of claim at 6th June 07) - (£1.50 per charge) = out of court settlement figure

I will give them 14 days to accept and pay up or decline. This way, if they don't accept when it finally gets to court I feel justified in telling the judge I've offered to settle for a refund equivalent to £1.50 per charge and pursue the full amount.

Would be good if anyone could let me know if they've done this or a similar calculation and feedback their results.....
  • me again...

Just phoned Barclays (08457 555555) just to query about statements, there was nothing on screen about my request for statements, which to be honest, I'm not surprised about.

However, I did ask barclays bloke if I could go in to the branch and get them to print out my statements while I waited and apparently they will! double checked this " are you sure?" "yes won't be a problem" "you're absolutely sure?" "yes it's fine"

Guess where I'm going on Monday morning.

Ooooh, then guess where I am going too! Will phone them first, ask for the person's name, then quote them on that :rotfl:
    Claimed back in 2007
    Barclays Bank £2245
    Barclaycard £ 504
    Capital One £ 100

    NOW SAVING LOTS OF MONEY!

anyone got barclays bank address for requesting charges/fees refund, can only find address for back dated statements.
    thanks in advance..
  • I about to send lloyds the next letter saying i intend to start court proceedings but will except a settlememnt figure, how do i find out the interest and cost of court charges to include in my letter.
    thanks
  • lo,

jarvisma & smileysunflower.....if I get my statements from the branch I will be staggered! I have to say it is the most unlikely prospect, but it will be worth a shot, will keep you posted. I sent my initial letter to:

    Barclays Data Protection
    Radbroke Hall
    Knutsford
    Cheshire
WA16 9EU (which is the one off the help thread)

Haven't got a cheque book, so sent a postal order, but sent it recorded delivery so I know they've got it.

The scary thing is I have absolutely no idea how much I've been charged. I've been a real mess financially and I got to the point where I was terrified to open my statements. I'm not so bad now, but this is probably because I can't see how things can get any worse

you never know I might win the lottery tonight!
