    Old thread - stop reading.

Waste of time reading old threads, the advice changed ages ago in 2013!

  • this week I have received a parking fine from the above company for staying over the 30 mins in Talbot Green.

Following the comments on this site, that go back to 2011 and 2012, have been based mainely on disabled parking. I parked in a normal bay but was longer in the bank than I expecetd, in fact it wasn't until I received the fine that I realised that I had gone over the 30 mins. Is the stance still to ignore these fines.

The arguments put forward on here apply regardless of whether you were in a disables spot or not. The crux of the matter is; what are the landowner's losses as a result of the 'offence'?

In your case it's an overstay. What has the landowner lost? How long did you overstay by and what were the parking charges for that period of time?

    E.g. £1 an hour to park, overstay by 30 mins = 50p
Free to park, overstay by 3 mins = £0.00.

And that's before we get to the subject of whether the PPC even had any ownership or occupational rights to form a contract with the driver in the first place.

And together with the above, it's not a fine at all! A private parking company cannot issue fines or penalties on private land. So just ignore them if it your vehicle
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

  • my missus had a fine from when we went for some food and went to watch a wales game down the CCS. we ignored it as this was the general ccmb consensus, but now have had a letter from 'gladstones solicitors' saying we owe £162.25 and they may log a CCJ against her.
what exactly should we do from here?
    thanks all

ijs1985 please start your own thread and don't resurrect old ones. Please give as much detail as you can when you repost, including dates you received letters etc.

Search the forum for 'Gladstones' and send the advised letter of response you will see in all the other threads.

To search the forum you need to get off this ancient thread. Go to page one of current advice for goodness' sake as it's only one click away, see my signature below for where to click. Then after reading the sticky thread advice in a permanent top thread for NEWBIES (which DOES tell you about debt collector stage) then use the 'search this forum' heading above the first page of threads, to search for the keyword 'Gladstones'.
