  • Presumably after reading all in this section I can claim on my Dorothy Perkins store card that is run by GE Capital bank ....the charges I have go back to 1999 has anybody else tried this I am constantly over my limit because they keep adding huge charges/interest. However i would not be able to pay this off if I lost the case as I am really struggling to pay the minimum charges - Really appreciate any advice :o

  • I am looking to claim back charges on an old (now closed) account.

I don't have the account numbers etc.

Is there a way of obtaining my old account information to enable me to ask the bank for the relevant statements?

    Please help.

    Thanks

I had this situation with the Halifax. I went into my local branch and took along a couple of forms of I.D. (passport, driving license) and they looked up my account details on their computer. They won't do these enquiries over the phone as they want to see documentation that proves your I.D.

    Good luck!

  • Hi to everyone,

I just wondered if it was possible to claim back charges from any credit cards that are no longer active?

To explain my situation - I had 2 credit cards about a year ago which spiralled out of control with the amount of charges added to both accounts. I cut the cards up and sent them back. Since then, I've been paying back the money monthly through the relevant debt recovery companies. Because approximately 50-60% of the total debt on both cards will be from charges I wondered if there was any possibility of claiming back this money to offset the outstanding debt I have and be debt free?

Many thanks for reading my post :D

Yes, you can claim from closed accounts. Write the DPA letter and provide as much information as you can about the account (ideally including the account no)

    Hi there,

I wondered if you can still reclaim bank charges even if you have already closed your account with a bank? I have a new account with a new bank now - but I was charged a significant sum in bank charges from my old bank - I closed the account late last year - can I still reclaim?
