Yes you definitely can, there are threads for both credit card companies which I suggest you check out, also check out the Reclaim Bank Charges Help Thread. From personal experience I can say that Cap1 does not charge you for asking for 6 year's worth of statements, all you have to do is phone them. So good luck and go for it!
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH

  • Dear All,

I found myself in such a financial mess in years gone by, I've just about reached the light at the end of the tunnel (after using a DM firm called Churchwood Financial - RIPOFF , and the last few years payplan " SAVIOURS"). Now the possible extra money coming back to me would be out of this world.

I'm in the process of reclaiming £1800 from HSBC. I had sent the first letter to request a list of charges, then realised through reading other posts that HSBC statements are available on line!!!

Today the second letter has gone. I will also be writing to Capital One to ask for some repayment on charges from an account closed a few years ago.

Anyways, I'm hoping that one of you ace people can advise me if its possible to use this process to reclaim late payment fees from store cards? I have a store card with the House of Fraser, which I believe is through GE Capital.

Thanks for all the advice. I've spread to word about the site to people at work, and through work. Its a call centre, so word gets around.

  • Hi,

Have tried looking for the answer to this question amongst all of the existing threads and there is just so much stuff here that I have given up and decided to go the direct route and ask you 'experts' what the score is on this one!

    Here goes...

My ex wife and I had a joint account with First Direct and when we went our seperate ways she decided to clear out the account and the overdraft and beyond. She wasn't working at the time and because she had the children with her I felt it only fair that she should have access to our money (my wages). Any way she abused the account for about 4 months despite threats from my divorce solicitor that access to the funds would be denied if she kept up the spending. In the end I asked the bank if the would close the joint account and open individual ones for us which they duly did. During this period we (I) accrued around £600 pounds of charges for which I still have the statements. Can I reclaim these even though the account does not exist any more. It dates back to 2003/4. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
