Can I claim back charges off a closed account???

Write to them sending the initial data request and enclosing the £10 fee. (Capital One dont charge this fee)
To enable them to trace the account amend this letter to advise of your full name, date of birth and full address with postcode. Include any change of addresses you may have had in the last six years. It is worth mentioning that if you have changed address and continued to receive cheque books/paying in books etc that this is proof they were aware.
I have been in touch with Co-op bank needing my account traced and have provided this information. I received an email requesting I ring them and provide further information. I replied by email that I prefer everything in writing and if they tell me what they require I will forward it. They havent answered and I suspect this is a delaying tactic. If I receive a reply to the contrary I will post whatever further information they require here for your advisal but I think the above is enough and is advised elsewhere in this site.

Ive been looking at various sites and this one seems by far to be the most user friendly. However, would someone be able to advise me on the following:
1 I have two credit cards with Capital One and RBOS which have both been paid off in the last three months, am I able to claim a refund of all charges regardless of them reducing them from £20 to £12 in July of last year even though i no longer use either cards?
2.As above, having checked the various sites there seems to be conflicting information as to where to send the DPA requests and 14 day 1st letters, does anyone have the specific addresses for each of these for the above card companies?
3 does anyone have any case experience with the above companies as having phoned them both in the last week or so they have both agreed to send out missing statements without charge in the next seven days - the agent I spoke to at RBOS even took a list of the missing statementsn in addition do they credit the account ( which i do not use ) or send a cheque/
4. Finally, Ive taken the step one advice and opened a parachute account with citibank - website very easy to use and have been accepted for a current account with cheque card and overdraft ( benefits my current bank won't give me!) pending me submitting the necessary documents thanks for the advise!!!0 -

Yes, you can reclaim the whole amount unless the provider can prove actual costs.2.As above, having checked the various sites there seems to be conflicting information as to where to send the DPA requests and 14 day 1st letters, does anyone have the specific addresses for each of these for the above card companies?
Please see the Reclaim Charges Help thread in my signature.3 does anyone have any case experience with the above companies as having phoned them both in the last week or so they have both agreed to send out missing statements without charge in the next seven days - the agent I spoke to at RBOS even took a list of the missing statementsn in addition do they credit the account ( which i do not use ) or send a cheque
Not personally with these companies, but a quick search on here should bring up quite a few who have.0 -

And to that end I received reply today asking what type of account it was eg: current, visa etc and I had missed a postcode off my previous address (oops). I also supplied the address of what was then regarded as my local branch in case that would help.0 -
Hi there
I've already claimed back (successfully) money from Capital One and currently have a case pending with MoneyClaim agains Natwest and its given me an incentive to try and reclaim my Natwest Credit card charges.
The only problem is I cant remember my account number or any details of the card (was closed 2 years ago) - can someone advise me of who I need to write to/call to get these so I can send the letter asking for 6 years worth of statements?
Many thanks in advance

A quick look in the Reclaim Bank Charges Help thread gives the address for requesting 6 years details from Natwest as :
Natwest;
Mr Alex Lyons
Data Protection Manager
Retail Regulatory Risk
2nd Floor
Business House B
Gogarburn
P.O.Box 1000
Edinburgh
EH12 1HQ
I had to do the same thing on a closed account for Capital One. I gave my maiden name and previous address with postcode as well as my present name, full address and postcode and date of birth. They asked for the type of account and when it was opened/closed so include those details too it will probably help. Oh and I also gave the address of what had been my local branch.

Ah, just logged in online, found another late payment charge of £12. I sent payment last week from the natwest online account, to the natwest credit card, the charge was applied yesterday.
Its an internal transaction, and there is a special section on the website for this.
Thats £24 now in charges..0 -
A natwest credit card manager will be contacting me tomorrow, what do i tell them to try and convince him to give me the cash back tomorrow.0
