Use the same templates as the bank ones in Martin's article change the wording to read late payments and/or over limit fees. Links are in my signature.
  • Hey was just wondering if you could still claim on credit cards even thou your account is now closed ?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, if you don't have the cc number just send your name, any relevant address and your date of birth and they should be able to trace your account.
  • thank you. will see if i have the old account details.

  • Hi,

im in the process of claiming back my bank charges, have recived the 6 year statements (took about 2 weeks) now i want to do the same for my credit cards

I have a few q's.... Do i use the same template for credit cards or is there a different one somewhere. Is the fee the same (£10) ? or is it less or more ?

    thanks in advance.

The process is the same but amend the template accordingly for the appropriate charges. Personally I have amended mine to read 'details of all default charges' just to make sure I get all the details and dont mistakenly leave off anything I may need. A long time since I had one of the cards and cant remember what the charges were called in some instances. The fee is the same £10, you are requesting details as per the Data Protection Act, exactly the same as the bank method. Good luck :)

Ive been looking through my statements and i have came across a charge for £12. They have this down as an late payment charge, i think this is the only one i have on both credit cards, and i rarely go overdrawn, nevermind near the overdraft limit.

Out of cheek i contacted the credit card company via telephone to ask for my £12 back as its a little excessive, as i did not receive any letter, no warnings, telephone calls or information, i simply logged onto my bank website to find the charge applied even though i had sent payment through the website.

I use natwest bank account, and natwest credit cards.

Is it worth chasing them over the £12.? Or am i being damn right tight.
  • Hi there
I've just opened my credit card statement this morning and due to an oversight I've been charged a £15 late payment fee plus interest. This is a Debenhams Gold Card and since I've had it, several years, have a) never been late paying and b) always paid it off.

Like you, I'm wondering whether to just put up and shut up or whether to try to reclaim it back. They don't even send a letter, just add it onto the next statement so it hardly costs £15.

    Any more views?
    regards
    Linda

But then the next month, they charge you interest on the charge they have applied.

I think im gonna claim this one back, for the cheek of charging me interest on the charge they have given me.

Ill give them a ring tomorrow, and see what they say. £12 is £12....
