Can I claim back charges off a closed account???

I have just put a claim for £1200 worth of charges with HSBC for my current account. Does the 'unlawful' charges apply to credit cards and store cards as for example jjb still charge £20 late payment fee for their cards.

The bank acc i want to claim charges on is now closed and i lived at a different address to the one i do now. can anyone advise me what to do when requesting statements?:j

You can claim on a closed account, send off the letter asking for information/statement under the DPA giving your name, relevant addresses and your date of birth and the bank/cc company should be able to trace your accounts.

Provided your loan and credit card are in good order these are different agreements with the bank and should be okay.

im just about to start four claims against the halifax 2 current accounts for me and 1 credit card then a current account for my girlfriend and a current account for my sister all the accounts are closed me and my sister know our account details but girlfriend doesnt is it worth ringing them up for all the accounts or sending seperate letters with chq enclosed
any advice please

Yours can be one cheque, one letter but girlfriend and sister will need to do separate letters and do send letters don't phone for this and use the template letter.

I wrote to RBS claiming charges from my closed bank account, sent the 1st letter 14/2, received a response a couple of days ago, saying they are currently considering my claim.

Will follow up with 2nd letter shortly.

thanks for the info will keep you posted of the progress if i send the letters requesting info how long do i wait for reply before sending another letter

Send the "ask for charge details" (link below) with your £10 cheque to the address in the first post in the Reclaim Help Thread (link in my signature) and they should be able to find your account details.
