I used to be with HSBC but switched to another bank after they kept charging me for going over drawn. The problem was everytime they charged me that put me straight back into the red and so a vicous cycle was continued.
Alas I foolishly kept no records of my account with them so can anyone tell me if there is anyway of being able to check and claim my money back from them or am I left high and dry?0 -
Hello,
I was with Barclays from Sept 1995 - July 2006
I closed the account as I realised I was being shafted
with their interest rates. 0.10% (lol)
I have sinced moved to Nationwide. 4.75% interest (thanks Martin)
Can I still cliam back my charges from the closed account or is that not possible now that it is closed?
Many thanks,
Rob0 -
You can claim back six years from now on a closed account.0

Hi, i closed my account a couple of years ago with RBOS and i had to pay them hundreds of pounds in charges before i could even close it. Can i still re-claim the charges even though i dont bank with them anymore?0

OMG DON'T PEOPLE READ THREADS PROPERLy?!!
To the people who are repeating themeselves, I take my hat off to you! I dunno how you're managing to stay so calm!!
To the next person who wants to post (yet again) "Can I claim charges off an account that is closed?" Try reading the thread from page 1 and you'll find that answer has been answered time and time again - YES!!!!0 -
I was with HSBC about 5 and a bit years ago and got into a spot of bother, the usual charges for bounced DD's and a huge overdraft that just got made worse and worse by their charges. I'm now with a different bank and have no outstanding things with them but i don't have any of the records of the charges. How would i go about obtaining these records? Because they didn't just rip me off they bloody well raped me!!!

My first post. I have been looking at some of the posts but it takes forever can someone help me out and porvide me with the info below or porvide a link to the forum that has the answers in.
If you claim off a credit card company do you need to change your first letter so it corresponds with the cahrges they put on your account as they are different to usual bank charges?
Also will the credit card companies then close your account even if you owe them money?
if so and you can't afford to pay the amount you owe, and are unlikely to credit somewhere else what can you do?
Thnaks in advance. John0
