  • Can anyone advise? Can you still reclaim charges after the account has been closed? Would really appreciate advice on this.
    Cheers
  • Is it possible to claim charges on an account that has been closed,
i was with the RBS for 10 years and was given a few charges on this account, i payed back everything that was owed then they closed my account, i was just wondering if it was possible and help would be very helpful thanks.
  • Please could someone answer this? I tried for months to get £700 of charges back from HSBC. They told me the sharky woman who made me suicidal had acted properly and I wouldn't get any more money; they sent me £100 as a 'goodwill gesture'.

I gave up at that point, and shortly afterwards moved to my 'parachute account' and eventually closed the HSBC one. But can I still go back and get money off them?

I will while waiting for an answer write to HSBC and ask for a list of my charges - surely if they send it to me it suggests that I could reclaim charges? Doesn't it??

Please let me know - and also the other poster who asked the same question.

A moral victory over HSBC would be no end of help to me!

  • No, its not too late, if you no longer have the account number give your name, relevant addresses at the time the account was open and your date of birth and the bank should be able to trace the account.

  • Is it worth asking for a refund from a bank account that you closed less than 6 years ago because you were not happy with the way they handled their charges ?

i have some old closed accounts which i paid charges on , and i have a current credit card which has had late payment charges on few years ago.

firstly i used to have a studio account. i have paid it in full and closed it a barclays account which again paid off the over draft and closed - how do i find out charges which i occured on these , and i have a barclaycard credit card. not used but in the past i did receive charges ? how do i find out information on this also.

it is all so confusing. i think i can just about remember my barclays account number.
  • You need to send off the letter (with £10 cheque) asking for all information/statements to each of the cc/accounts you wish to claim on. If you don't know the account numbers give your name, relevant address and date of birth and they should be able to trace your accounts.

Addresses for most companies can be found in post 1 in the Reclaim Help Thread link in my signature.
  • my daughter closed her account with nat west due to charges piling up but can find no record of her account amongst her paperwork since she moved. is there a way of finding out her account number so she could claim back charges?
