Can I claim back charges off a closed account???

I am lucky enough not to have to claim back any current account fees, but like many people, I have been fined £20 plenty of times for making my credit card payment a day or two late.
Having got fed up of this, I took my business elsewhere and closed my cards with Barclays and NatWest. Would I be right in thinking that the fact I have severed my business dealings with Barclaycard and NatWest does not disqualify me from claiming back monies they claimed inappropriately?
I have read the introductory threads but I can't see reference to this. Could someone please confirm - and maybe update the intro threads to include this detail? Cheers.Mortgage at outset (May 2004): £80,000
Mortgage now (October 2007): £58,000
Original mortgage-free date: May 2024
Expected mortgage-free date: December 2014
Projected interest saving: £21,1000 -
Hi, I am not sure whether I will be able to reclaim bank charges from a bank account I already closed down. I closed it June 2005, but prior to that has loads of bank charges. Should I still be able to reclaim for the 4.5 years prior to that?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's not much about Marbles in these threads and was wondering if anybody has had a similar experience or already claimed from Marbles with any pointers
Thanks in advance
Sorry to quote my own postbut just reporting back on getting the answers from the Consumer Action Group website.
So if anyone else is in the same position here it is.
Marbles Creditcard & Houshold Bank = HFC Ltd = HSBC.
The letter I got about not agreeing with the OFT findings, is a standard letter. Looking at peoples posts from CAG it seems to be have been the same letter for quite a while
I will be sending my first LBA tommorrow. After that apparently they will offer half the money.
You may have to go as far as MCOL application stage for these guys to settle in full.
I'm also waiitng for statements from Cap One and two Natwest Accounts
I hope this helps :A0 -
Hi all.
I got into financial difficulty about 5 years ago & incurred an incredible amount of charges from my bank. After a few months of worry & constantly increasing charges I was able to raise the money to clear my debt to the bank & they closed the account.
Can I claim?

Yes you can claim on a closed account, going back 5/6 years from now. If you no longer have your account number, send your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth to the bank along with your request for all your info/statements and they should be able to find your account.0

Hi, Is it possible to reclaim charges from an old account which closed within the last 6 years?0

Hi, is it possible to claim charges without knowing any account numbers. Im in the process of claiming my excess overdraft charges on two current accounts. With the same bank me and my wife also had credit cards but these have been closed for a short while and we dont have any account numbers.
If i follow the same procedure ie, using the online letters on this site, the account numbers are needed. Can i do it without knowing my account details.

Is it still possible to claim back charges after you closed the bank account and moved to another bank.0

As you can see from previous posts, send off the letter asking for all your info/statements and enclose your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth and the bank should be able to trace your account.0
