  • Send your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth to the bank and they should be able to trace your account.
  • I have this problem with A&L and they advised me to send in the letter even though my account was closed in 2003. They have acknowledged my letter to by sending me a form to fill in and have cashed my cheque so I am presuming they have been able to trace it.

    Hope ths helps
  • hi all
hope someone can help, back in 2002 I had an abbey national bank account with huge overdraft and huge amount of charges made arrangements to repay overdraft monthly (interest frozen) which I did and the account was then closed, approx 2004. I have binned all the statements and can't even remember the account number is there anyway I can pursue bank charges?? also currently arranging dmp with cccs and want to reclaim bank charges from hsbc would I be better waiting for the dmp to be in situ before doing this, my current debt is all with them. Many thanks.
    I stopped smoking 25th June 2007
    STILL Never complacent but confident
    My debt is GOING DOWN!!!!
  • I think the only problem is the 6 year rule. Charges / Penalties with 6 years from the claim date can be claimed whether the account is closed now or not.
  • Hi
could someone please let me know the address for Tesco credit card. I closed my account a couple of years ago but want my statements for six years back

    Help appreciated.
  • Just wondering who seems to be paying out with ease on Credit card suppliers as there doesn't seem to be much in the way of feedback with credit card success stories  or am I being a bit blind:D

Google Tesco Personal Finance or go on their website
  • Can the CC companies ask me to settle my account in full if I decide to reclaim the charges for the past 6 years even if the amount outstanding on my account is below the agreed credit limit and I am paying every month the minimum amount required.

    Thanks
  • Anyone reclaimed charges from credit card companies with which you still have a high balance? I know I was charged up the ying yang years ago and would obviously like to claim it back but don't want to shoot myself in the foot and find they tell me to pay off the balance.

The easy way would be to transfer the balance to a new card but my empty cards don't have high enough limit and I've had credit history discrepencies so don't seem able to get a new one at the moment...

    Any advice or experiences??
  • I've also gone after my closed HSBC account and want to go after my old credit card accounts.

If you have more than one credit card with the same company, ie MBNA, can you ask for a list/breakdown of all the charges on all the accounts in the same letter & send one cheque, or do you need to issue a seperate letter and cheque for each one?
