I changed banks a couple of years ago from the Yorkshire to the Abbey. I dont have any old statements from my Yorkshire account which was closed down after I moved and I dont know the account number. Is there no way I could claim charges back on the Yorkshire account I realise it's a long shot.

    Thanks,

    Pete.
    I'll get me coat!

    Hi

Sorry if this qustion has already been asked but I have a friend who is currently dealing with CCS to pay of his debts. Some are with Debt collectors and some are with the banks themselves. Can he claim any of his fees back? any fee that he can claim would be great to pay off these debts quicker.
  • Can bank charges be claimed on closed accounts joint accounts?

Also i now have a new single account approx 2 years old. Endless charges have been made in those 2 years with the same bank. Can i claim for those at the same time ??

I think if you did claim, and the bank agreed to repay, it would be entitled to make the payment to you and your ex jointly in view of your estrangement. It would be up to the bpoth of you to argue it out as to whose money it was.
  • HI,

Sorry if this has already been asked or answered (there are soo many pages to read!) I am just about to file against Natwest for my 2 accounts & 1 credit card. I actually closed down all my accounts with Natwest in 2004, so guess I can only claim from 1999 onwards. Hopefully I will be getting £100s back. I have just done the first letter asking about bank charges, can I use the same letter for my credit card aswell & since I am claiming against 3 accounts will £10 cover all of them or will I need £30 to send in total.

Can you also make a claim if Natwest incresed your overdraft without asking your consent, & you thought you would take all the money out coz they have offered it you?

    Please help :-)

The six year rule is six years from when you initiate your claim not six years from when you closed your accounts.

You can't claim back interest you have paid on money you have borrowed.

I was charged fees by the woolwich when I had an account with them. I have since closed the account(nearly 3 years ago). Can I still reclaim my charges?
    Fat and proud lol
  • yes you can still claim on any closed account as long as the charges are within the 6 years time frame.

    good luck!

Can you also reclaim charges from accounts with credit cards issued by a bank. I'm particularly thinking of a recent late payment which incurred a hefty penalty.
  • I have a lot of penalty charges on an bank account that I have already closed because the charges were too steep, could I still claim?
