And As Far As I Know, The Banks Are Well Within There Rights To Close Your Account If You Claim From Them So I Would Set Up A New Account Elsewhere Just Incase..

No they are so NOT within their rights to close your accounts. Some will try to do it which is why Martin says open up another account before you start claiming, but they have no right to do so and you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman if they try. Don't be fobbed off by what the banks say.

  • Hi everyone!

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know if you can reclaim unfair charges on BUSINESS accounts. We are reclaiming about £4500 on our joint account but my husband also had 2 business accounts with HSBC (one now closed) and the charges total about £900 and £1500 respectively. This was from when he was self-employed.
Would we have to deduct the amount they charged for running a business account, and how do we work out what was charged for true running of the account and unfair charges for going overdrawn?
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • please help! Nearly a year ago my I had a £500.00 od and a credit card with a £500.00 limit from the HSBC. The credit card never went out of controll but due to (now to be know unlawfull) bank charges, my account went desperatly over my overdraft! The bank then forced my hand and insisted on merging the two into a very expensive managed loan. Which i have been paying of at £33.31 a month with an added £10.00 of interst on top each month. This again was caused by their ilegal charges. Can anyone help?
