Hi Peter they are completly independent of corgi....... they pay a 'license fee' to corgi to be able to use their name/logo..... bit like you might pay a fee to watch TV.

They have quite a few weird exclusions.....

When did you take your policy out????
last month they stated a new exclusion, that you can only claim £300 per event in the 1st 3 months.... read thei reason behind this..... because too mny customers were claiming expensive parts in the first few days of cover!!! ssory but whats the agreement for?? i thought it was to cover repairs.... shouldnt matter when you boiler breaks after the 30days, cos if you cancel in the 1st yr they will sting you a cancellation charge..
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

And do you think that CORGI would want their brand name tarnished by granting a licence to a bunch of cowboy operators?

Why is that a weird exclusion? You are buying an insurance policy for FUTURE events, not for events that have already happened! The scheme is not there so people with known problems simply sign up to the scheme in order to claim! So, blame the opportunistic CORGI Homecare customers for any change in the exclusions, not CORGI!

    Peter

I posted on here cos people arent sure who these people are... you even thought they were set up in january......

in regards to your above post i never once said they were cowboys!
ive not once slagged of their service, as ive never used it. what i have stated in my posts is fact, which is available on their website, and on the net.

Peter they have a 30days exclusion period, so to then limit the amount you claim for another 60days, but still excpecting you to pay full cost is a little bit unfair to the consumer...
i dont kno of anyother provider of boiler care out there that restricts you to x amount of days (where u cant claim) followed by another x amount of days where your claim limit is greatly reduced!!

If there is others out there that do this, please advise me...

    Thanks.

    ihateyes...

I think you will find that most providers have some way of avoiding paying for costly repairs during the initial weeks of any new agreement.

In the case of British Gas, their exclusions mean that they can avoid paying out for anything if they find your boiler is faulty on the initial inspection! That means you will have to pay for the repairs yourself and British Gas will not cover you again until the repairs are done!

point taken on the inital inspection but that is the same for all companies... including green installer.

CORGI Homecare (Green Installer) do NOT do an inital inspection!

Instead of an initial inspection, which can result in cover being withdrawn entirely, CORGI provide restrict claims on boilers to £300 (for a limited period)

In my book, having your claim restricted to £300 is far better than finding that you have no cover at all (even though you have paid monthly premiums) because your boiler is found faulty on the initial inspection!

Corgi do not exist any more and have not done so for around 2 years so if it says it is from Corgi I personally would be somewhat suspicious.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.

have you read section 4.1..... this is it:
4.1 We reserve the right to pre-screen all boilers and may not cover your domestic central heating boiler if it is not in good working order, if parts are not available or your boiler does not meet our eligibility criteria.

What do they mean by pre-screen all boilers???? i would assume this is an initial inspecton!!
And imagine you pay for 12 mths then have a fault, whereby the engr comes out and points us thi fault is due to installion/design fault.... all that money!!
i would rather know in advance to be honest, as would a lot of other people!!

In most cases, pre-screening is just a determination of the model and age of the boiler, to ensure that parts are available and that the boiler is less than five years old. An inspection is really only done if there is some uncertainty as to the model/age of the boiler or if there is some doubt whether it may already be faulty. For those (such as me) who had their boilers installed when CORGI ran the gas registration scheme no inspection was needed as CORGI knew (from their own records) the model/age of my boiler and knew it had been installed by a CORGI-registered engineer.

If CORGI Homecare accept you onto the scheme you cover is guaranteed, unlike the British Gas Homecare scheme where you don't know if you are covered until the initial inspection is done! And the British Gas initial inspection is manadatory and ALWAYS AFTER the scheme starts - in my case I had already made three monthly payments!

Having said all that, the main trust of this thread is whether CORGI Homecare is a bona-fide scheme or not. The fact is that CORGI Homecare is totally legitimate, CORGI does still exist. If it was not legitimate it would, undoubtedly, have appeared in the papers and on the TV by now.
