CORGI offering maintenance plan? Anybody else use this?

Received a letter from CORGI today, offering me a heating maintenance plan, which will equate to about £17 per month. It certainly covers an awful lot, and has a boiler replacement as part of it and is considerably cheaper than the British Gas plan I already have...
Does anyone use this service? Seriously considering changing.

Put £17 a month in a savings plan.
We've had our boiler for 20 years and no one has touched it. Over 20 years that would mean we had saved over £4k
On that basis I don't care if our boiler packs up tomorrow."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
That's certainly an idea... but what about a yerarly maintenance on the boiler... if a call out is about £60 and then something needs doing, that could quite easily absorb your £240?
I believe a good maintenance plan is worth the money and hassles of organising myself, and I like to know I'm not going to get CO poisoning!0 -
It could do, but I am of the opinion if it isn't broke don't fix it. It's done me well for the past 20 odd years
You can get CO poisoning at any time, even if (or sometimes because of!) someone meddling. Get a CO alarm for a few quid."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Fair comment, i am a big believer in CO alarms (only electric noisy ones mind you), but i still think maintenance on a boiler each year is so important.....and looking at the letter again, looks like they throw in a CO alarm.
Anyone out there ever used this service?0 -
i thought CORGI had been replaced a few years ago by gas safe?0

Book an annual service from a recommended local independent GSR RGI. Buy your own CO alarm.
Put your £100+ savings in the bank each year against the possibility of an unscheduled call out being required.
I note with some amusement that they say they'll be they're within 24 hours-but in the meantime a 'distress manager' will soothe your nerves...

But, having said that, yes, seriously consider anyone other than British Gas.0 -
I believe the Gorgi name was bought as biggles has said so if I was you I would look into it very carefully0

Rang Corgi (from trustcorgi.com) and it seems that they are the same Corgi as before, and it was only the licensing part that they no longer run.
The maintenance company is the same and it is a new business that they have started... so same od Corgi, and definitely not defunct, so no worries there..... worth calling though!:T0
