  • I have a Corgi maintenance plan, and believe it is money well spent. Corgi carry out an annual maintenance at a time to suit you. I recently had a service call out, and a leak was detected. The service guy ordered the part whilst at my property and it was fitted within a few days, again at my convenience.
I found the staff at Corgi to be helpful, efficient and extremely polite nothing seemed to be too much trouble. They arranged an appointment for their qualified technician, he arrived on the date and time agreed, and he was very knowledgeable, efficient, tidy and polite.
I cannot recommend this plan highly enough.

"Pulled the boiler apart, first engineer i've had in 6 years who did that."

So for 6 years you've had boiler cover but neither company carried out an annual service?

"It had been leaking for a while and he was gob smacked that no other engineer from homserve who i was with first or corgi hadn't spotted it or tried to fix it."
Well this certainly makes me feel confident in taking out a policy... Not!

"I was happy with the service from the first call to it being fixed."
Really?!! You're happy that the company that you have cover with basically fobbed it off to the manufacturer? You're happy that the manufacturer engineer advised you that the fault had not been spotted, let alone an attempt made to repair?

If I were you I'd be happy with the service from the Manufacturer. Not the performance of 'Corgi'.

I'm thinking I am going to pass on this lot.

  • The 7 yr old Bosch Worcester boiler in our bungalow is situated in the loft. At 10 pm I went into a main bedroom to find water in the carpet and also in the adjacent bedroom. I inspected the loft to find the boiler profusely leaking water and running down inside a studded wall to the two bedrooms below. I managed to drain the central heating system but the boiler continued to leak. I rang Corgi emergency helpline only to be told there would be someone attending within 24hrs. I protested and pointed out the water was still flowing but got no improved response. I waited a while and rang again only to be told the same with the repeated indifference.
I am not a plumber so after a while turned the water off at the mains and eventually the water ceased to run. I spent the early hours of the morning using a Vax to suck up the water from the two bedrooms. The engineer eventually came at approx. 1:30pm the following day, I believe due to my email complaint to their Customer Service Dept. The Corgi website quotes a response of within 24hrs but where there is a gas leak or "Running Water" the response will be within 2 hrs.
I paid £240 per year for an emergency breakdown service for my boiler and the peace of mind that it should bring. I believe the resultant water damage would have been reduced if Corgi had responded as they should. If I had been an elderly lady or someone disabled or infirm then the resulting damage would have been considerably more.

I leave the reader to come to their own conclusions and to asses the merits of relying on Corgi for their EMERGENCY Service. I will not be!

My 94 year old Father in-law had a smart meter installed yesterday (26 Sep 2016) and at the same time the boiler control developed a fault. As he has had a Corgi Home Plan (since 2012) he contacted them for assistance only to be told that a third party was involved so this invalidated cover. In the four years that he has had the cover he has never called them to report any faults. His daughter also spoke with customer services who were very rude and told her they would not be sending an engineer and was told to cancel the contract. He has now paid British Gas to have the fault fixed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY PROMISE A LOT BUT DO NOT DELIVER WHEN CALLED UPON. IT IS A CASE OF SHARP PRACTISE!
  • Conflicted engineers...company run by accountants. cost me £1k proving they were wrong...guess what they tell me that is my problem...

I had an ignition issue with boiler. Corgi engineer attends and brushes the burner (which an expert website says you should never do, nor touch it should be replaced). 4 weeks later of ongoing ignition issues and then overheating, the engineer blamed the flow/return plumbing. (which is not included in my policy). I then get two independent plumbers to review (at my cost), they both say there is no issue with flow/return and they also fix an issue with the control board (an expensive part) which get the system running partially again. This costs me £1k, which should have been covered by the policy. And they say there is a bigger issue with both the ignition and possibly the heat exchanger meaning a new boiler is required. I have to pay the plumber to write a letter to Corgi saying so. Corgi then attend again and say must be blockage in heat exchanger with no proof. Guess what, not covered and they refuse to acknowledge the ignition issues (which was the original issue).

Whilst the engineer was courteous he himself said the company is run by accountants. They just try to blame something not covered by your policy until you can (pay) to prove them wrong (as I did, but the fact I had to "pay £1k to do so is not their problem". Complaining to them is futile, they just say prove them wrong. And in the interim you have no boiler so guess what you end up getting a plumber who does know what they are talking about to fix it sooner.

    good luck.
