  • Hello,

Would really appreciate it if someone could tell me if i can claim back mortgage (late payment fees) charged on an old mortgage. They came to at least a few grand over 10 years and were all charged at the end when i settled up. I never questioned it at the time but now im really hoping the Halifax will cough up if i ask nicely, what do you think?

I'm about to launch my initial attack to reclaim my overcharge charges back.
I'm of the understanding that it's bank and creditors to which you can try, however....... I have paid £260 the last two months to Nationwide and not being particularly flush I have, as a result been short on my mortgage (DD) payment..... Low and behold another letter.... to the effect of ..
'we have not been able to collect the direct debit.... so as a result we are going to print some more money to increase our already fat wallets..oh, for which for will need to pay another £32.00 to cover this.

I called them to be told, you have no chance of claiming this back, and it’s only the banks and creditors that are in the wrong. Not us !!!

    (Lender: Abbey.)

Is this true or is there scope to try and claim money back for these computer generated actions too ???

Sorry its it's been asked but I've looked and can't see the answer.

Sorry I'm not sure what you are asking? Are you asking if you can claim back late payment charges regarding your mortgage?

Yes sorry trying to be too funny for my own good.
I have missed my direct debit payment due to fee's being applied to my bills account. I got two letters to day, one saying you've been charged xyz from Nationwide (Sorry we cannont overturn them) then a second letter from my mortgage firm saying we'vre been unable to take your payment and we will now charge you £32... My question is can I try and reclaim charges from my mortgage company that I may have recieved aswell as my bank accounts etc Does the same 'rule' apply.

    Thanks

    2) Barclaycard phone call, advised to write, nice lady said good luck!!
    3) Mint phone call, told to write... (moody person)
    4) Natwest phone call, loverly lady advised I write, said there be no charge if it's 'legal' reasons. Wish the best.
    5) RBS (same lady at Natwest help me)
6)Capital One ordered on the phone - easy.
7)Marbels great people, no charge will send.

Mortgate provider (still not sure if I can try)
Abbey - very rude, told I've got no chance, don't waste my time. Eventually got the address to write to.

So after a few hours - lets see what comes.

    Good luck

I have requested today that my last mortgage company pay me back 20 months of charges amounting to £1000. They said no you cant have them, i have now contacted the financial ombudsman who are kindly dealing with this matter for me.
  • Are Loan companies such as The Funding Corporation affected by the current penalty charge issues. They charge £40.00 per Direct Debit non-payment and £30.00 per Default Memo Fee. Additionally they have part collected some of the fees (£240) with the remainder (£480) being added onto the outstanding account, therefore attracting higher interest charges. Am i on safe ground initiating the reclaim procedure as per the High Street Banks process. Any advices/experiences in this field much appreciated.

    Hi everyone

Does anybody know if it is possible to claim the charges back for letters sent by my bank about my loan arrears for whih I have several and been charged 35pounds per letter?
If so do I tailor the claim letters templates and include dates of all the letters and the charges made?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thnak you
