Yes you can claim. I altered my template to read 'all default charges' and took out the bit detailing what charges. I went on to say I would be reclaiming 'relevant' default charges. It saved me having to be too specific initially.0

sorry to ask again... but can i try and claim back charges from my previous mortgage lender, i have several charges from them due to insufficient funds in bank a/c. if i can, where do i get the template letters?0
-
I suggest using the same template letters as for bank charges and credit cards and amend to request 'details of all charges' and check which ones you can claim for rather than being specific in the first letter or you may not get all the details you require.
Hope that helps0 -
I've got the reclaiming bug and I've sent 8 1st letters to banks and credit card companies, but I would like to know if i can claim the charges i received for late payments on my loans? I had 2 loans, one with Bank of scotland and the other with Egg.
Hopefully the answer is yes so that i can get on my way to repaying my huge debt bill off!
Thanks0 -
In the last six years i have incurred charges from,
- Platform (mortgage)
- black horse (secured loan)
- SPML/capstone (mortgage)

Additionally they have part collected some of the fees (£240) with the remainder (£480) being added onto the outstanding account, therefore attracting higher interest charges. Am i on safe ground initiating the reclaim procedure as per the High Street Banks process. Any advices/experiences in this field much appreciated.
Not sure if you can claim these back. Be careful of funding they are dodgy. I was with them and in the end by advise from CAB was told to default. They then sent account over to cabot finance and I only pay £20 mth instead of 180mth. I know it don't relate to your question but just thought id advise you of them0 -
It is a good point that has been raised
The mortgage companies appear to feel that they are exempt from the Regulations controlling the banks and credit cards. They take the position that they can charge what they like - normally £30 / month.
Are they right - are they exempt0 -
I've been charged £35 today by Natwest for a mortgage payment by direct debit that didn't get paid, my bank Woolwich told me I had just missed the payment as I'd deposited the money but it wasn't in in time for the DD. Woolwich refunded the charge they imposed because I had attempted to get the money in and I have an excellent record, I never go over normally.
The thing is can I claim this £35 back from my mortgage lender, Natwest ? they say it's in the T and C's that I have to pay it but we know that doesn't count for anything if the clause is unlawful. They are going to add the £35 to my mortgage account and start charging me interest on it as though it were part of the original mortgage.

Hi,
As well as current account and credit card charges, can you claim for any charges on a mortgage account???
