Claiming Loan And Mortgage Charges (merged)

Hi
Just thought people might be interested to know that I applied the same premise to Current account charges to the costs that I incurred on my Mortgage with the Halifax. A few years ago we had a few problems and being the benevolent organisation that the Halifax is they decided to use this as an opportunity to charge us £35 on a regular basis. The toothless FSA did nothing to help us when we complained about these charges. However two weeks ago after reclaiming my current account charges I thought I'd see if I could reclaim the mortgage ones. I used exactly the same letter that is on this website for bank charges. Well what do you know this morning I received a letter from the Halifax, with an offer by them to refund all the arrears charges incurred on my mortgage to the sum of £550.
Yes you can claim and as you can see, there is a recent success story.0 -

hiya, extremely long story here will try to put just the relevant info in. my now es and I took out a secured loan of £20k plus £5k loan insurance. Ex hubby left after a couple of month couldn't pay any money as he was in prison. I only had a part time job and was in total financial mess. I had an agreement with first plus that instead of paying £300.00 a month I would pay £100.00. It came to a point where I had to re mortgage the house to pay off first plus so I could keep the house and get ex hubbies name off the deeds. First plus sent a final settlement statement saying £30k to settle. On the very last day of the re mortgage going through they told my solicitor I owed £42k not £30k I managed to bring them down enough to be able to afford the re mortgae. They said the reason for this extra money was all the months I had only paid £100.00.
My question is were these charges for late payment and if so would I be able to reclaim them back.
Thanks in advance for advise. Kind regards, Karen2008 won £5119.04 :j
2009 won so far £0:rotfl:
All together now..........

Has anybody claimed back mortgage charges?
I got into a bit of trouble a couple of years ago, had a further advance on my mortgage and was charged £500 admin and application fee? Can I re-claim some or all of this?
I also have £300 worth of default letter charges on my account, I am requesting these back.
I also moved out of the property and gave a new address for all corresponance to be sent, however when I missed 3 payments the sent solicitors letters to the old address and I have been charged £959.39 for these and a £250 litigation admin fee!! Is it possible to re-claim these costs too as they were aware I was no longer at the property?
Any advice would be very welcome!!0 -
I have just finished paying back a 3 year loan with the Bank of Scotland and have received a letter stating that I now owe £93 in charges for late payments. Does anyone know if I can claim these charges back.0

Hi, I wonder if anyone is able to tell me if I would be able to reclaim the admin charges of £40.00 which appear on my mortgage statement because I am in arrears, I was thinking that the same rules apply to this as to the bank charges because all that the mortgage company do is auto add it to the monthly mortgage statement. Also if I had all the admin charges refunded, I would no longer be in arrears!!! I am worried about any repercussions though, as in banks closing accounts would the mortgage company then demand their payment in full?
Any advice would be much appreciated.0 -
Hi Pigginsexy, could you advise me on Birmingham Midshires. I think all the Royal Bank of Scotland Groups are all thieves (Halifax, BM, etc.)
They are charging me £30 arrears fee monthly and I have 7 accounts with them (3 properties buy to let, every one has a main mortgage plus further advance, one has 2 further advances).
For one of them we went to court and we are paying the arrears on top of our monthly mortgage, for one we avoided court by setting up an arrangement with them. Today me and my husband called them at least 4 times about these charges. They kept on telling us "it is in your terms and conditions". I got so upset I started to cry (the stress of these is too much), I told them the charges are unfair and they are like the bank ones (it probably costs them £5), what the heck, they are not DD unpaid or SO unpaid, so what the charges are for? Administrative (my a...!)
Anyway, they logged a complain but I know it will get no-where.
Please help. I am trying to see all of my houses. The reason why I have 4 is because I had a very dodgy mortgage independent broker who conned me so well, took lots of fee from me, did not even give me the T&C of BM, it has been a nightmare so far! I am under stress every day.
Please if you know of a thread that talked about this, sorry about it, I am new to threads and I am e-mailing you from work, so don't have much time to write.
PLEASE HELP. (DESPERATE WOMAN)pigginsexy wrote: »If it helps i have every intention of claiming off my previous mortgage company (Birmingham Midshires), in fact have sent letter RD today to them requesting statements.
I dont know if i would be doing it if i was still with them though!!! Thats a toughy!
Are you in a position to re-mortgage. If so, then perhaps you should go for it with your current provider and if things turn nasty you can re-mortgage then you still keep your house... does that make sense.
Good luck0
