had a loan with my partner 4 years ago we hit a rough patch money wise and halved our payments also changed our payments dates which we were told was fine just recently found out that we have been making late payments for the past year we thought it was ok because they agreed the payment date with us they have apparently charged us £15 every late payment although we were told to ignore any letters we received because it was arranged with the local branch having spoken to head office they knew nothing of this agreement and basically said we were lying
is there anything we can do to get the charges taken off the account
    its with beneficial finance
    any help will be appreciated

I'd be asking for a list of charges first of all, then once you know exactly how many of these charges they've put on the acct, i'd be sending out those letters. :D

  • Hi All,

I'm new to all of this so please don't think I'm stupid!!!!
I would like to ask for help regarding bank charges:confused:
I am trying to sort out a relatives problems about her house. She has had some unfortunate luck and has been unable to pay in full her mortgage repayments for a while. She has been paying an agreed amount of the interest with the building society until she is able to sell her house, which is pretty soon now, and pay the BS in full. However, they had been sending her letters each month and charging her £35 for each letter (had that put on hold for now). There are other charges not understood as well??
Even though she defaulted on her repayments will she still be able to claim back the high charges for letters they have sent her??? £35 for a letter seems like robbery to me.
Can anyone out there help me????

It sounds as though this is in the embryonic stages with a few brave souls starting the ball rolling.
I wonder if some help could be given parallel to the bank charges info covering mortgage charges for those of us who are a bit rubbish at all the letter writing and knowing who to write to stuff?
    I'd appreciate it greatly.

From the digging around I've done (I was wanting to know the same thing) the answer is yes.

Not many people on here seem to have had dealings with GMAC but there is threads on them on the Consumer Action Group website.

I have a loan with Black Horse and have fallen behind a couple of times and have had charges for "Unpaid direct debits" and "collection activation charges" at up to £50 a time. Can these be claimed back using the same principles?
