You can claim back overdraft interest but only the interest that is a direct result of a charge.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0 -
Quite right and you'll find that explained in post 8 of the Reclaim Help Thread, however the poster asked if they could claim back debt interest when overdrawn.0

Agreed I should have read further back however your post says overdraft interest not debit interest.

hi everyone , i aint got a clue hw to use this forum or chat thing, i am so confused. can u find out for me if i am able to reclaim this back , i am a bit nervous abt reclaiming my bank charges which are exceeding my overdraft usage which i knw i can get back, but will i be able to reclaim the following;
I took a loan from LTSB for £16000 on the 16th May 2006, it was a buy nw pay later loan, where u get the loan deposited in to ur account on that day and ur first installment will be taken 3 months later.
my first installment was due on the 26th August 2006.
I got the loan because i was in the process of selling 1 of my propertys and buying another 1, but i needed the funds for the property that i was buying at that moment.
i got £16000 on the 16th may 2006, the property i was selling sold so i got the £16000 back & thought i mite as well pay of the loan.
on the 27th july i decided to pay the loan off. I got charged £749.04 on top of my £16000 that i owed the bank, with them saying it is the interest that is charged @ £8 per day from the day my loan became active as well as the ERP.
what i didnt understand was that i was paying the loan off even before my installments were going to go out on the 28th August which was a month later, i didnt mind paying a one-off fee for paying it back early, but paying all that interest totally shook me up. i was told that if i had paid the loan of within 30 days of it becoming active i would have only got charged £1
but because i am paying it all of i am incurred 2 all those interest charges.
my question 2 u is, can i claim that back, im really stuck, i need ur expert opinion on this matter plz.
thank you0 -
Have a style financial services storecard, they have charged my about £250 and when i claimed them back thewy told to take a long walk off a short plank. Claiming that late payment fees were a penalty and not a charge and that i would never in amillion years get them refunded. As they are a store card and not a credit card is this right or are they stalling. Any advice would be great0

Barclays
As I write, Barclays have 8 hours left to post an acknowledgment or I win by default!
However, I am currently in a re-payment plan with the CCCS to repay all my creditors a pro rata payment as I could not afford to repay the contactual amounts; A barclays graduate loan and an overdraft being 2 of the debts. Will they offset the amount reclaimed (about £2000) against the amount that I owe them. I have another current account now. My Barclays account is closed.0 -

You can claim back late payment fees on a store card so just carry on with your next stage.0
