I have been watching and watching and watching people saying how much they won! I thought, I can't be owed more than a couple of hundred - added it all up the other day and saw that I had paid out, mainly between 2001 and 2004 - £1953 in bank charges! I nearly fell off my chair!!! With interest - it comes to £2562.74!!! Thanks HSBC!!!Gimme back my bank charges!!!!!0

I recently tried to claim back £736 from Halifax only to be told in a letter today that they cannot waive charges when I have clearly breached terms and conditions, my next step will be to threaten them with court action I guess0

Yes you need to send the standard letters prelim and LBA , If the fail to comply with these then you issue a claim against them in the small claims court, dont forget to include and court fees and sect 69 interest.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0 -

hi,
if you are filling out your court claim now is the time to add the intrest on before you file, you can use the intrest calculator on the step by step guide on this site also add your court fees, postage fees, telephone etc, etc.

i'm in the process of claiming charges back and i filed a claim with mcol a few days ago. the bank received the court papers, then sent me a letter saying they've reviewed my claim, and have refunded the charges (straight into my account), but they haven't added the interest on, nor the court fee. do i need to alter the claim with mcol or just leave it running for the time being please, or something else?TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

i am also new and have just worked out that you can find a listing of all your posts if you go to your profile section, but many people are just posting and not getting responses...not sure why that is?0 -

Firstly, there are alot of questions and the numbers answering are limited.
Secondly, many of the same questions are asked over and over, so those providing responses may skip these in the hope that the answers can be found in one of the stickys.0 -
re bank charges , my bank, HSBC charges me an amount for missed standing orders or going over my agreed overdraft limit etc. I know that I can attempt to claim these back but it also charges me debt interest on my account when I am overdrawn. Should/can I attempt to claim this as well ?0

You can't claim back interest for going overdrawn. Please see post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread in my signature.0
