I asked yesterday about the Fresh offer, as I was confused by the while-stocks-last strapline, and thought we might have to race each other for it.
They said the offer will remain for a month or so until easyMob closes, and is available to all customers. So I intend to use a bit more credit, donate the rest , then transfer close to the shut-off date.0 -

Easy Mobile can't send the number to another provider. The other provider has to request it from Easy Mobile and they do that with the port code.
I requested the pack yesterday evening and i my phone has been working today.
I think they mean your account will be closed when your number has been moved to Fresh and no longer an Easy Mobile number.0 -
Iffy_Wallet wrote:pigeonpie - do you make many calls? Do you need to send these sms messages by phone, or could you manage sending them via the internet (using an internet sms company) ?
Thanks Iffy, I usually text France from my UK mobile at least once a week as my french one's credit expires. Have you got the names of any internet based sms companies that are good and you don't get hit with spam etc? But I do need to be able to text and phone France and vice versa.
I've looked at the intl and roaming tariffs: Fresh are no good (they want you to buy their intl SIM), T Mobile a complete rip off (£1 per intl call from UK) and the best option AFAIK is Tesco Mobile. They also have an option on their Std tariff for 3 nos @half price. Only downside is I see they piggyback on O2 which has a dodgy signal sometimes where I live.
Does anyone know if they are ok and how I get a free or cheap SIM? I would be transferring to them (if MS experts tell me they are the cheapest & work fine) but don't suppose they would chuck a free SIM at me? And I would def want to keep my number.
Other downside: I never shop at Tesco as there isn't one nr here. Can you top up a Tesco SIM using bank ATMs or a text message or is it online just like EM?0 -

If you use a decent paid for supplier, you shouldn't get any spam!

Quite a complex company, but don't get bamboozled. On a simple level, they offer sms to france for 10 points (which is the same as they charge for a UK destination sms message). At £6.90 for 1000 credits (100 messages to France), that works out at 6.9p per message. Amongst the many clever features they have, they have a simple screen where you type in 160 chrs and send it out to a specified number. This is a lot easier than clicking away on your mobile.
I don't want to divert this thread too much, but if you have any questions about World Text that you can't figure out from their website, drop me a PM and I'll see if I can explain. (No, I don't work for them, or have a financial interest, apart from being one of their customers).[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -

PayPal Mobile works with almost all mobile operators in the UK. Anyone can receive money and activate a phone for PayPal Mobile. However, not all of them are currently set up for the PayPal Mobile text messaging service. It is available on the following wireless carriers. Check back soon for more updates.

O2
Orange
Tesco
T-Mobile
Virgin

I think the Paypal text service is just a message you send to Paypal to pay someone else from your Paypal account. Not your phone account if that's what you meant.0

Oh and pigeonpie - interestingly, there is a sim company called http://www.0044.co.uk which is designed to sell you an overseas sim card when going to France, Spain, Portugal etc. However, they also seem to sell a sim card for international travellers visiting the UK, and that seems to offer calls to France for 7p per minute to a fixed line and 20p per minute to a mobile. (Their coverage map shows "T Mobile" at the top, so I guess that they are they UK carrier). Don't know if that is of any use...[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0
