I don't think that happens as it takes a certain amount of time to process thue porting request. Until that happens, you should still be able to use your easyMobile SIM card.
I would have thought that the T-Mobile 'Everyone' plan wasn't too bad - 12p calls and 10p texts. Not as good as Fresh perhaps, but I find the Fresh website to be very confusing and right now I'd rather go with an operator who may be somewhat more stable!
The Tesco plans are OK if you spend a bit of money per month, but their standard plan seems a bit costly...0 -
While I've been enjoying free calls care of EasyM, I know I won't use all the free credit by the deadline. I have no gripe with losing it as it didn't cost me anything (shame I've lost the profit though...)
There must be some charity numbers I can call, to use the credit to some benefit.
Does anyone know of any?0 -

Don't be too hasty! Looks like Stelios has plans to continue to offer a mobile service using another provider. "Simply put, TDC is no longer a worthy licensee of the easy brand and damages will be sought to compensate for any damage done to the brand in the past or in the future," said Stelios the easyGroup chairman and founder of easyMobile. "I will make sure that TDC understand that they must treat the customers and the staff well and I am already putting a new service in place with a new partner under the easyTelecom.com brand." I think it is a real pity. I liked a lot of the EasyMobile concepts. The only thing that gave me problems was the poor coverage by the T Mobile carrier in this area. I know other people said their coverage was great. In the end, I don't think it was all the freebies that were a problem, but in my eyes just the iffy signal.
Anyway, I agree with you all - we need to spend the balance before 20 Dec.
The additional info from EasyMobile says:13th November 2006
Additional Information on your easyMobile services
As explained in our e-mail to you dated 13th November 2006, due to a change of
strategy at TDC, TDC have decided to withdraw from the UK market. As a
consequence, easyMobile.com will no longer be providing mobile telephone services in
the UK from midnight (24:00) on 13th December 2006. From this date you will no
longer be able use its mobile telephone services. Your agreement with easyMobile
will be terminated on 20th December 2006. Set out below is additional information
which we hope will assist you in the closure of your account with easyMobile and
making alternative arrangements for your mobile telephone services.
1. Taking advantage of the arrangement available for you with Fresh
Mobile from The Carphone Warehouse.
If you wish to proceed with the option with Fresh Mobile from The Carphone
Warehouse, please login to My Account on the https://www.easyMobile.com website,
where you will find details on how to take advantage of this offer.
2. Moving to an alternative provider
If, as an alternative to the option set out above, you would prefer to move to
an alternative service provider, then we will do our best to unlock your
easyMobile phone or port your number to another service or operator at your
request and free of charge. Please see the FAQs on https://www.easyMobile.com.
If you do wish to un-lock your phone or port your number, we advise you to
do so as soon as possible prior to midnight (24:00) on 13th December 2006,
and in any case before 20th December 2006. We will not be able to arrange for
your phone to be unlocked or your number to be ported whilst you owe us any
amount for your use of any mobile telephone services.
3. Online Shop, My Account and top-up services
easyMobile.com's Online Shop will close as of the date of this e-mail for the
purchase of new mobile phone handsets or SIM cards and it will not be
possible to enter into new contracts with easyMobile.com. Between now and
midnight (24:00) on 13th December 2006 you will still be able to top-up your
existing accounts and use My Account. After midnight (24:00) on 13th
December 2006, you will continue to be able to use certain online services in
connection with the payment of outstanding charges as of 20th December 2006
and the closing of your account, as set out in the "Refund of advanced
payments" section (section 5) below.
If you have signed up to Auto-Top-Up, this service will automatically cease on
20th December 2006. However, you may wish to cancel your Auto-Top-Up in
advance and we refer you to the Auto Top-Up terms & conditions for further
clarification. These are available on our web-site https://www.easyMobile.com. We
would like to remind you that if you have been making international calls or
using our international roaming service, Auto-Top-Up may remain on your
account for up to 30 days as necessary from the time that you notify us that
you wish to cancel it or the termination of your agreement with us, whichever
is earlier.
4. Customer Services
We aim to maintain the level of Customer Services which are currently
available to you and which you are used to. However, it may be necessary to
introduce changes to Customer Services and we will update you of any such
developments via our website or by e-mail.
5. Refund of advanced payments/payment of outstanding amounts
If any top-ups you have made remain in your account at midnight (24:00) on
13th December 2006, we will fully re-fund you such amount, and shall
endeavour to do so as quickly as possible following the termination of your
agreement with us and the calculation of any outstanding mobile telephone
service charges. We will also refund you for any outstanding non-promotional
e-vouchers that you may have purchased and not yet used, if you notify us of
the applicable telephone number for such e-vouchers by email no later than
20th December 2006. Any refund is subject to the deduction by us of any
mobile telephone service charges (including international roaming charges)
which are due as at 20th December 2006 or on the closing of your account,
which you will remain liable for. I refer you to the terms & conditions for your
agreement with us, which are available on our web-site https://www.easyMobile.com.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund any free airtime that was given to
you as part of any introductory or promotional offer or bonus scheme. If,
following our calculation of any outstanding charges for your use of mobile
telephone services as of the termination of your agreement with us and the
closing of your account, you owe us any amount, we shall notify you
accordingly and you will be liable to pay us such amount.
After midnight (24:00) on 13th December 2006, you will continue to be able to
access My Account. You will also be able to use the top-up services in order to
settle any outstanding amounts that you owe for the use of any mobile
telephone services by you prior to the termination of your agreement with us
on 20th December 2006 and the closing of your account. Such services will be
available until the final balance of your account is updated with any
outstanding charges, any remaining top-ups made are refunded or any
outstanding charges are paid and your account is closed. As explained above
in section 3, any Auto-Top-Up facility that you may have in place may also
remain on your account as necessary to cover the related costs of making
international calls and using our international roaming service prior to the
termination of your agreement with us and the closing of your account. Auto-
Top-Up may remain on your account for up to 30 days as necessary from the
time that you notify us that you wish to cancel it or the termination of your
agreement with us, whichever is earlier.
6. Questions, updates and other services
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Customer
Services or visit our web-site https://www.easyMobile.com which will be updated from
time to time if there are any additional changes you need to be aware of.[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -
I hardly think this thread is the place for recriminations, either against the companies or other members here.
The few people whingeing about not being able to get a refund of money they haven't actually spent are being rather unsympathetic to the people losing their jobs soon.
The huge amounts of promotional credit offered looked like desperation, and although they may have doubled the number of customers, perhaps not many of these would earn any money for the operation.
As for the damage done to the easy licence brand by receiving a six-figure income from a start-up business before it was actually making a profit - it will be interesting to hear the outcome of the claim for compensation.
As the main business is an airline, one might have thought that this represents an ideal opportunity to sell global SIM cards with cheap roaming in their destinations ....... perhaps Stelios doesn't go for every idea in his suggestion box, or the people that come to meet him; maybe there isn't enough money in it0 -
Easyjet seem to be doing well. I don't know if I should go with Fresh or T Mobile. As a low UK mostly user but who needs to send and receive texts to France, EM were the best. T Mobile's tariffs aren't bad but their intl options expensive. Then someone has posted that Fresh don't do roaming or even allow you to text or call Europe from your mobile.
Very disappointed. I want to keep my number but can anyone advise who to go with please?0 -
Easy were great. I had 6 months mobile phone use and hardly paid anything for it. In fact they paid me when the quidco cashback is factored in. Best deal ever!
I won't be switching provider just yet. I will give the other operators a chance to react and hopefully put forward some competetive offers to pick up the spare users. T-mobile charge 50p for a PAYG SIM and their everyone tariff is 12p to all phones anytime. I can't be bothered with special numbers and topping up by a certain amount each month. I just want cheap calls whenever I need to make them.0
