  • Hi

I am just about to send letters for myself, my husband and our business enquiring about the bank charges we paid on each account.

I have a few questions to ask first though as its all a bit confusing to me, never taken on any big claim like this before!

Do I need a separate letter for each account?

Do I need to enclose the £10 fee cheque for each account or will 1 cheque cover them all?

Who are the cheques payable to?

Where do I send the letter/s? as there are many different adresses on the websites.

One letter will do all accounts as you are asking for DATA protection held on you not for statements for each individual accounts, one cheque will do and make it payable to the bank.

Address found in the first post in this thread.

Martin's article has a step by step guide.

    Hi,

I'm just going through my husband's accounts to claim back charges (have already done mine successfully!). I've got a big pile of stuff that Lloyds have sent us, going back to 2001. It looks like from about 2001 to 2003 my DH was charged £5 each month just for using his overdraft facility (sometimes it's £7, this may just have been inflation, lol). THat's not an excess overdraft fee, it's just a fee that I presume must have been part of the agreement when he set up the account. Can we claim these back too? It doesn't seem as clear cut as a whacking great £30 fee for going over his overdraft limit.

    Any thoughts?

    THanks
    Sarah

PS - just noticed that actually he is still paying £7 a month for the usage of an overdraft. So the same question - can we claim it back?
  • These £5 fees are for a service - an overdraft. Thus are not reclaimable. Unless as I you didn't ask for this service charge to be added? My friend didn't know anything about it and had no use for the extras I fought it via customer service and I managed 3 years refund.
Help me to help you :santa2:
  • Hi all, newbie here. I have just printed off a letter to my bank (Lloyds.. yeah, I know :-( ) requesting my statements. I was just wondering... when they come, which charges do I include and which do I disregard? I say this because my statements mention "account charges" of £5 which is what they charge for my particular account, they also mention the usual overdraft interest too. Do I only add up the £30 exorbitant ones or just tot up the lot and try my luck ;-P
Looking forward to hearing from anyone, many congrats to all of those who have succeeded too. Best wishes, Tania x
  • Tania, please see the previous two posts which seem to answer your question.

I'm all fired up & ready to take on LloydsTSB - are they likely to close my accounts? I have overdrafts with them, are these affected? Be good to hear other peoples experiences, so I know exactly what to expect!
I got nearly 5K from TSB and they did not close mine, however they will make you sign that you will not claim for any other TSB accounts or for these accounts in the future.

Has anyone else had problems with Lloyds TSB:confused: I am at the stage now where I have sent the court claim, & they have had their 14 days, still no reply from the bank or the court:mad:, do I have to wait another 14 days before I take the next step:rolleyes:?? Just wondered if anyone could enlighten me as my wife can't wait to spend OUR money on the grandkids:eek:
No - they have 24 days if I am correct, you will get a letter soon that they will defend (from their idiot solicitors). Then they have another 24 days to give their defence. After this you will get a letter from the courts asking for both parties evidence to be sent to them, it is here where you get to send TSB the evidence and your reasons etc they send you their response and evidence -all of this then goes back to court for the hearing (this will never happen - they will make you an offer a week before).
